It's worth asking them GISI. Worst that will happen is they say no!

I'm contemplating what to read next. I just finished off a really heavy going book - it is a "good" book, really gripping, but not very nice - quite harrowing reading. It was the second in a trilogy and I'm fighting the urge to dive straight into the next one. I think I could do with something a bit more light hearted first - maybe a kids book to cleanse my literary pallette (sp?) before I start reading about terrible things again. I normally read comic fantasy and things that tend to have happy-ish endings and so reading this was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster!

Aless - do you have a garden/window box/balcony? It isn't too late to plant some rocket/salad leaves - that will make your salads cheaper :)

Wow, asparagus is a very sophisticated lunch for a builder called Dave :rotfl:.

I've emailed the Body Shop but no response so far.

haha, weezl. It's that 3 months now with very little in the way of fresh veg/fruit really has me craving a few things. Your menu definitely favors winter weather. Nothing as indulgent as fresh asparagus shall be bought, though! Am I allowed a cucumber? :rotfl:

ladybird, this is soooo lame, but I always hear of people doing this, but where do you get the plants? I tried to do tomatoes last year, but the plant only yielded about 5 :o. And my coriander always dies! Shall persevere next time I go to ASDA/Tesco.

Lady - is it really easy to do something like that? I spend loads on fresh fruit and veg and we are always talking about growing our own, but I am not into gardening and haven't gotten round to it yet. But I really begrudge paying for rocket which DH likes in his salad. I try to force him to eat "round lettuce" when we I am trying to cut down the spending (like now!).

Hello Csh! I miss you. :(

Aless - for actual lettuces (where you cut them and they don't grow any more) you might be able to get plug plants (already started off plants) from homebase/b&q/local garden centres. For rocket or salad leaves (where you keep cutting the leaves and they keep growing) I've not seen any pre seeded, but if you buy the seeds they are really easy to grow (just put them in a trough/big pot of compost, cover with a thin layer of compost, water when you plant them, and don't forget to keep watering!). If you get them in soon then you should still be able to enjoy in a month or so :)

The herb pots from the supermarket never survive very long for me either - they seem to cram too many plants in the one pot - a bit of plant food makes some of them last a bit longer, but I've never had any luck with corriander, which is a shame, as I love it!
