Thanks WM - I think he needs some independence from me so it might do us both some good.
I'll try the singing tomorrow night cos OH has vetoed the crying
In my house unless OH is the one breaking his heart and tiring himself out every night trying to get babba to sleep then he doesn't get a veto - his option is that he can bl00dy well have a go instead.
You feel a bit of a pillock singing on the landing but it has turned my world around. Benjamin actually giggled when I left his room this eveningplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Glam, why does it matter what OH thinks when its you that does the night time routine ?? I personally think doing the same thing every night in the same order before bed is the best way to get a baby to settle. So into PJs, wash face, have bottle, sit in bedroom darkened for 5 mins with mummy singing quietly, then into cot, night night from mummy and walk out. Then go back in after a while if he hasnt settles and just do the night night bit and leave again.
Good luck with whatever one you do though xxThe two best things I have done with my life

I also use metanium, it is like a proper old fashoned ointment
and lots of water, grapes and satsumas for runnier poos
Than you. Will have a walk up to chemist tomorrow. Only fruit i've given alex that hasn't been puree'd are bananas. Too scared of the gagging thing. Will stop at lidl on way back from chemist, see what fruit they have.
Am so not going to Asda, even though it would be easier to get everything in one place. Do not need loads of food, and i get easily distracted in there by George. Only went in for formula, last weekend and came out £40 lighter.:o0 -
Right I really must go to bed as chances are T will be up again in the next couple of hours, although sometimes I am sure I feel worse cos I am only asleep say an hour before having to wake up again!! Hope we all have excellent nights (we can hope cant we). Chat tomorrow xxBaby Toby born 17th Nov 09 :j0

MFD - I'm not sure about wind. He does trump like a trooper especially at night.
Maybe I'll try gripe water again (and try to keep it up)
WM - I'm afraid it does get worse when they are mobile, rather than just staying on his back or front he know gets up and sits up which is waking him up more and making him harder to get down.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Same here. OH has no say, in bedtime routine, feeding etc. He doesn't do it so he can naff off. (Well ok he does it one day a week. But it's easy for him, because i've set the routine).0

I also recommend singing. Chris was a bit like this and I ended up sitting next to the cot, then at the end of the cot, then at the door, then outside the door, half way down the stairs etc. Think they like to know you are still there. You do feel like a plumb, so I suggest you brush up on your songs, rock a bye baby gets boring after 15 times.
Does he have toys in the cot? I've always left toys in the cot for them to play with till they get to sleep. Usually they are happy lying fiddling with something (obviously discretion is needed in choose the toys).
As for sitting up, so long as he can can get himself back down again, leave him.0 -

He just woke up so I went up and popped his dummy in then sang Twinkle, Twinkle 3 times, the last time from the door and he's gone back off.money_maker wrote: »Glam, why does it matter what OH thinks when its you that does the night time routine ?? We do have the same routine which I stick to every night but he still won't settle. Guess I'll just have to stick with it and hope he starts settling again soon.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

When I read ur question I thought hmm, why cant he have them now. I am not sure!! Only reason I said that is cos it said 7 months plus on the packet and he is only almost 6 months. But it does say they are gluten free etc. Do you think I could give them to him now as I am itching to!!

Ooo - try soft fruit first - strawberries and melon cut into mouth sized pieces! Or really ripe pears (Benjamins fave)
With grapes I always used to cut them in half (they can cause a seal in the throat) and I always broke the skin of a satsuma segment too.
Don't worry about the gagging, they really are fine...they are programmed not to let stuff go down until they are ready!!
Banana will make his poo harder.
Aw bless - Benjamin has a cough and every so often he coiughs and then goes ahhhh in his sleep. Very sweet!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120
