Hi all,
Posting from my new computer in a brand new officeMe Likey!!
No lappy atm so whilst I might be able to lurk in the evenings on the Hero I won't be around for a while.

Oh Glam, I hope things sort themselves out as everyone sobers up! I only came on to moan about Izzy refusing to nap, but I feel silly moaning now.
Those of you with older kids, how did you go about teaching colours/numbers etc? We aren't there yet of couse, just an idle wondering about how I'm going to do it really. Other than just constantly talking about colours until she cottons on, I've got no clue!Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

thanks for asking, mum got home eventually this morning at 8.30 13 hours after she left me last night. i'm just hoping that when it comes to K's christening that everyone will make it over. i think i might just suggest the ferry as a back up booking.
so quite with everyone working again.'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -

I don't have an older kidbut I do colours and numbers all the time - with books and just with everything we have or we are doing. So on our door Benjamin can point to which one is the 1 and which one is the 3 (we do this every day when we come in the house). I just reckon I will drill it into him eventually!!
I am trying to get hubby to do the same amount of talking / going through stuff as I do because he drives me mad just doing something to Benjamin without telling him what he is doing (for example blowing his nose or changing his nappy) then he moans when Benjamin kicks off *rolleyes* Whereas I say 'let's change your nappy and he will try and pull his change mat out from under the sofa and then lie on it when I put it in position
I have had to stop saying 'let's blow your nose' though because he kept wiping it on his sleeve :rotfl:please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

Lady include colours and numbers in everything you do, 2 socks one two, green jumper, red car etc etc. Charlie has started to count as when i change him i take his hands and say 1 2 3 and he copies!
Thats awful about the wedding dress' i hope it gets sorted ASAP!!!

Poor GlamI am sure it will all blow over soon!
Ladybird, we had (and have) lots of alphabet blocks - 3 different sorts in fact. So among the blocks are letters, numbers, different colours, pictures... they're absolutely awesome toys, because as well as manual dexterity building towers and structures, E has known all or almost all letter and number names for several months now. He got into playing with them from around 12-14 months somewhere if I recall correctly, and still does now very keenly. So - blocks are your answer
ETA Also MFD has reminded me that we had a good book with numbers, things counted on each page and the things were of different colours. So e.g. on page 8 there are 8 different coloured butterflies as well as a big number 8, and he loves the pointing and naming - I count them then he tries to name colours, and so on. So books are good too0 -

I am more talkative when I am at work because I don't have a babba to distract me!! I struggle to post when Benjamin is around other than naptime and bedtime.
Speaking of which - my little alarm clock failed to wake me this morning - I woke at 7.19am  20 mins before I usually leave the house! I had to wake his nibs at 7.40am, even me using the hairdryer hadn't woken him :rotfl:please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
quick update on the vest the nursery have been trying Charlie out with! it seems to be a success! they watched him before the vest went on and his attention would only last at 15-20 secs at anyone time. They put the vest on him and his attention lasted longer with toys and he even sat for 20mins playing with the garage!!!! i have a meeting with them in 2 weeks when they will discuss if we can see an improvement and if so they will get him fitted with a more permant body suit? What's for you won't go past you0
