Oh dear - hubby went to the docs this morning and has just called to say he has been sent straight to the Emergency *something* Clinic at the hospital with suspected Guillian Barrie Syndrome :( his body attacking his immune system and causine his nervous system to pack up...

And I have just been telling him he is a lazy a$$ who needs to shut up moaning :o

Oh no. Big hugs for you MFD and Mr MFD.
  • Aw Glam - what a scare. Glad Jack is okay. FWIW I think that cots make an awful noise when they bang their heads (or kick them or whatever) seems to reverberate around the whole cot, but they also seem to have a rubber effect (ours does anyway) and we never get a mark!!

You did well to go to the hospital and be back within a couple of hours on a Bank Holiday Monday, I would have expected to be sat amongst the drunks for hours.

Oh no MFD, that's a bit scary :(...! At least you pushed him to the docs, even if you didn't think it was anything much. GB syndrome is not great - hope it turns out to be a scare and not the real thing, or that it's been caught early. Fingers crossed. Please keep us updated when you aren't too busy :/

Do you know anything about it? I have googled slightly but daren't look too far...

He had numb legs and arms yesterday and I said something along the lines of 'you can walk and pick the baby up, there is nothing wrong with you'

What a caring wife I am :o It's a good job he loves me :rotfl:

Oh MFD! I hope it turns out okay for you guys...a friend of the family has been down with GB Syndrome but he's expected to make a full recovery and is wowing doctors by a very speedy recovery, so it isn't all bad :o.

Oh eff - just googled a little more and it is on the same pages as strokes...his dad had 2 or 3 strokes and died when he was in his early 50s. Am very scared and crying now.

Edit - over-reaction over. Only suspected at the moment - fingers crossed I was right in the first place.

Try not to worry too much until you have a firm diagnosis. Hopefully he just has an icky bug or something equally innocuous. Sending good health vibes in your direction...

Aww, MFD, Hugs for you and hubby. :(

Don't google. Let us google and select the useful info for you. :)

Has it come on suddenly, or has he been moaning for a while?

(And I think we're all guilty of thinking they're being dramatic at times :o)

MFD if he walked into the hospital by himself chances are excellent that it is something else or that he will be eminently and speedily treatable.

Numbness, tingling and the weird rubber legs feeling are all very early stage symptoms. It's going to suck for him because he'll probably have a lumbar puncture and a couple of other invasive and nasty tests but it sounds like they have him very early. Try not to worry xxx

Edit: You have my phone number if you need anything (even just reassuring medical type noises - we work with rehabilitation patients sometimes so I'm a bit familiar with the progression), but I'll be incommunicado between 3 and 5 your time.
