Hammy – so sorry that sleep is not getting any better for you. I hope you get David’s allergies under control soon, the poor mite. If they are bothering him, they are probably affecting his sleep. How was your picnic by the way?

Holly’s sleeping is great again (for now!). That’s the past 4 nights she has gone to bed with hardly any or no complaints. And sleeping until after 7 in the morning so can’t ask for more really. I am so glad she has gone back to sleeping through – I don’t know how you ladies do it long term (Hammy, Glam, WM, Aless etc). Hope your babies are good for you tonight.

We had a lovely picnic, thank you. We went to Beechenhurst I will one day get to report that D sleeps as well as Holly :rotfl:

Been starving all day, no idea why, and even have headache to match. Will blame AF. Finn went to bed mega late as we were out visiting so i'm really hope we don't pay for it tonight.

Oh,I haven't had AF yet - I assumed it was cos I was still BF but obviously not.... I don't need to pee on a stick though before you all get excited :rotfl:

Tomorrow I am finally going to the hospital to get my volunteer ID badge made so I can start volunteering on the Neonatal Unit. Just need to get in touch with the midwife in charge and arrange it :D Then I have to dash back home to meet the community nurse who's coming out to weigh Rhys since he's not been weighed for a month :o And then we're either chilling at home (might consider some tidying) or might go for a wander into town, see how hot it is

Hope everyone is okay :) Extra sleep vibes for Hammy and anyone else who wants them xx

Well done on being able to start your volunteering :T

We had a reasonably good night here :T:rotfl:D slept from 6.45 until 12.45 which is an unheard of length in this house :T then slept from 1.30 until 5  but was very disturbed with lots of itching and scratching in this period :(. A better night than usual though. I hope everyone else had a good night :D

Big yay:T to Jack for getting a tooth :T and to Kieren, Jayden and Andrew too.

Yay, for a decent amount of sleep Hammy:)

    I barely got any....maybe 2hrs, sat upright!!!

Am going to get dh to bring the swing down when he gets up as 90% of the time whenever T is laying flat she starts gagging and then is sick. She is very gunged up though, so I am hoping it will clear in the next day or so, as she isn't the easiest baby to feed...either gagging or trapped wind which takes nearly 2hrs to get up. Ah well she isn't even 24hrs old yet, so I know it is just newbie problems, but I do feel sorry for her:( Haha, given that she hasn't even been out for a full day yet, she has gone through 6 sleepsuits, 4 vests and two blankets:rotfl:

K looks/feels huge now, he is sat in his highchair atm eating brekkie, he is still my big baby though;) Need to get all three boys for a haircut asap.....k looks like a hobo:o

Thank you all again for you kind words, I feel very blessed to have 4 such amazing and beautiful children:)

P.S - I do believe I was terribly rude yesterday and didn't even say Happy Birthday to Sami..... So sorry Sami, hope you had a lovely day:)

    xx

Morning all :) very lovely pic Mel :) and it sounds like it was a pretty good experience all in all so yay :p How are the boys (and OH), are they pleased with her? :D

Long day yesterday... much peer pressure at work from a team I helped on a project, to come join them at a bar for the England game; had to get a full day's work done by 2.30, then several drinks at the bar (including long island iced teas ), hurried home in sweltering heat trying to sober up, got home and OH immediately went for a 2 hour nap, entertained naked baby who had had no nap with lawn sprinkler and toys in the garden while simultaneously cooking a roast pork dinner and drinking coffee, woke OH up at 8 to eat and help bedtime routine, put E down at 8.30, worked on presentation from 8.30 to 11 (while playing Lexulous in background ;))... now another hectic day of work including presenting to very senior people inc. Yawn stretch sigh.

Hope people had good night's sleeps :) well done HH on a promising improvement!

Mel: K was exactly like that with the mucus and I just sat and watched him the full first night! He was also not great with feeding for the first 2 days. When he was about 18hrs old he started properly bringing up the mucus and went through more clothes in the first 3 days than he did in the fortnight following! Hopefully she'll clear up today x
Anyone get the impression that the media are reporting much worse news about the budget than 'real' people are experiencing?

Totally! I find it really annoying! On our local radio news yesterday the headline was 'horror budget' and I was like 'eh?' They took the angle about public sector pay freeze and made it sound like 20k was the poverty line.

IMO shows it was a good budget with a good level of cuts if the media are struggling to rubbish it and the public are supportive

Anyway, will not talk politics :D

Can you not just say to MIL that you'd prefer she spent her time enjoying her DGS rather than 'helping' and making it sound like you are doing her a favour by her not doing stuff?

Go David on a good night  Kieren was up twice for a dummy then was up at 6.40am! Long lie, get in!!! Its just us in the house so I let him chat to himself til 6.55am til I got up heehee

It was when they interviewed some fella in his 20s outside a tower block about how he might lose some housing benefit that I got annoyed... Like his 5th floor 1bed council flat will cost more than £200pw in housing benefit  and they were on about the cost to the average person yesterday and it kept coming up with "people like Jenny will be £20 worse off..." I was shouting "Per year!!!" at the TV lol...

And the people with pay freezes have no sympathy from me... Dave's not had a pay rise for the last 2 years, doubt he'll get one next year either... And he's well below £20k... We manage... Even if we lost all tax credits we'd manage... We wouldn't have much fun, but we'd cope... It's what you do isn't it...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

She is ALWAYS meddling in my laundry

My Mam is obsessed with my laundry and it drives me mad. She rummages round the laundry bins and takes stuff away while we're on holiday, and I've had to say please do not do that.

She uses a strong floral fabric softner and nobody here likes the smell of it, mixes everyones stuff up and folds stuff wrong. I've got a tall narrow chest of drawers and like things folded a specific way so I can see at a glance where things are.

When we have them round for a meal, she always has to cook and bring half the food which upsets me as I like cooking. If I finally persuade her that I don't need help, she insists on giving me money instead which makes me feel uncomfortable too.

She always picks on at my housework and says's she'll just do this or she'll just do that. I know she means well, but it makes me feel really crap as if I'm no good at being a housewife :(

The annoying thing is, if I offer to do anything in her house, she would be majorly offended and go off on one.

Clouded over here and it's cooler today. Probably my fault as I bought some cycling shorts yesterday to wear for boot camp. I've worn normal cotton shorts the last couple of times, but the material rubs between my legs when I run and causes chaffing :o
Here I go again on my own....

I know i won't be popular for this, but yay Germany! :p

I agree - my three teams all made it through, although the Germany-England game necessarily wipes one of them out and Argentina will no doubt do the same for the one that wins :rotfl:

I didn't get AF back till Molly was eight months old and even now it's very light.
I had a reply from Boots saying that their pharmacist have the right to refuse medication to anyone....hmmm that's helpful. They totally missed the point of my compaint .

I'd reply to the complaint, include a copy, and say, Since you obviously missed the point of my first letter, let me explain it again in smaller words.

I sent one of those to Barclays, and then when they sent another form response I sent it back with the complaint in three different styles ... with a picture. Drawn with crayons (I put the stuff in the speech bubbles in pen though, so it was clear).
Anyone get the impression that the media are reporting much worse news about the budget than 'real' people are experiencing?

Yes indeed. The Germans are obviously applauding the austerity budget and being impressed that so much of the unnecessary has been cut without making a massive difference to most people. But "oh no I might lose some housing benefit entitlement that isn't being paid to me anyway because my flat doesn't rent for that much!!" - ridiculous. I think a lot of the reason the last government failed is that damned-whatever-way media attitude. Gordon Brown could have personally delivered a bunch of flowers and a food parcel to every home in poverty in Britain, kissed every baby and slipped a £20 into the mother's hand and then swum off into the sunset and plugged the oil leak - and people would have complained about the carbon miles of the flowers, the waste of money, the spread of germs and the inappropriate focus on international matters.

I'm not claiming he did a good job, but he was faced with an impossible task from an impossible audience. No wonder he was useless - that amount of pressure would cripple anyone.

I need to organise swimming lessons for Molly, but it might have to wait till September when we're not jaunting off all over the place. Although if I can find a quickie course over the summer that might be a good thing to put her on till I can find something regular. I'm just a bit worried because my German might not be good enough to understand while trying to keep Molly's face out of the water and at the same time try not to let anyone see my ungroomed legs/mummy tummy/dreadful fear of getting my own face wet :o

MFD that must be difficult for you. I imagine the hidden shirt was an accident (but what possessed you to search between the towels?!). My mother came over and did nothing. She didn't even make herself a cup of tea, just expected us to take care of it for her. On balance though I'd rather it be like that than have her randomly stealing my laundry - quite often there's something I need at short notice and if it wasn't at my house I'd be

Becles, I think what your mum does would annoy me even more. Would it help if you asked her, instead of bringing food, to organise some sort of entertainment for the kids while you cook, maybe a game they can all play or for her to go into the garden and supervise football? If you stress "time with grandkids" she might go for it? I'm not sure if that would work with MFD's MIL, because she's probably doing stuff during naptime to keep herself busy.

I'd be fuming if my mother went through my laundry basket - she has no sense of people's privacy as it is. She in fact walked in on not one, not two but three of our practice sessions for making Molly, and then after we yelled out, DON'T COME IN, EVERYONE'S NAKED!!! she wandered in anyway, sat down on the edge of the bed and held a conversation about nothing in particular, saying, Oh, you might be naked under there but I can't see anything. Not the point, Mother...

Csh – thanks for asking after OH’s gran. We went to see her last night and her speech has improved a bit (can maybe understand 30% of what she is trying to say which has surprised the hospital I think), but she has had enough I think and doesn’t really want to go on.

Oh Fitz, I meant to ask and didn't. I'm glad she's improving a bit, but it can be hard when you know someone has had enough and their body's too strong for them. My grandmother was like that in the end. I hope it goes as easily for all of you as it can.

:j for that extra tooth, and all the other teeth all the other babies are sprouting! Molly has the two bottom ones and the top middle two are still sitting bulging outwards where they were months ago.

Phew! Long day indeed but well done you. Mrs Bruno must be wiped out with the exhausting bit of pregnancy and the rambunctious little one.

I'm so impressed with your boot camp Becles, especially on top of keeping your house and your kids and your dogs and your studies going. You're Superwoman!

Hammy, did I read that you're getting there with the sleeping? I hope so!

Yey for Holly's sleeping, you must be pleased.
Anyone get the impression that the media are reporting much worse news about the budget than 'real' people are experiencing?

The media do not like good news! They only like the doom and gloom and scaremongering. At the end of the day, savings have to be made. I have the same issue with my personal finances, for a long time I spent beyond my means and at some point I had to cut back, sort it out and am now paying for it!

Ok night here. I find it so random when Alfie wakes up at different times. Oh well. Hats off to you ladies with long term sleep issues, I don't know how I'd cope with it.

Som how are you feeling now? You sounded quite down the other day.

    Morning everyone.

It's cooled down here today too. Looks like it might rain.

MFD Could you hide your washing/ironing in a locked room? How annoying!

The only thing my Mum does when she's here is my dishes, washing them and leaving them on the drainer rather than just putting them in the dishwasher!

She wouldn't dare touch my ironing, because she knows she can't do it to my [STRIKE]anal[/STRIKE] high standards. :rotfl: I've done my own ironing since I was about 13 because she's rubbish at it.

OH will be affected by the pay freeze, but won't really notice. As he's new to the job he'll still get the rises at the end of training and the end of probation.

If I was back at work I wouldn't be affected anyway as i'm well below the 20k threshold.

The bit I saw in the paper yesterday saying how it will affect people; The low earner, the unemployed family, the single mum, the average earner and the pensioners, were all better off, only by pounds a week - but it didn't take into account shopping going up.

I actually think it was better than expected. The only thing that should have been done differently was Child Benefit. They shouldn't pay it to everyone. Do the very rich really need there child benefit every week?

I think I'm cracking up... Just had the same conversation with Aimee at 3 different levels of shouting... (it's going to end in a smack, I can feel it) The baby has done nothing but screech all morning, I'm supposed to be having a driving lesson this afternoon but the person who is looking after the baby just txt to say she can't, I don't know what else to do now...

I've spent the morning dry heaving, there's a surveyor coming to check out the kitchen ceiling between now and 1 and the kitchen/dining room is a state because I have been asking hubby to help me for a week and he only helped with half a job last night...
