Can't speak for MFD, but I too hate line dried towels. Much prefer them from the dryer, they come out much softer for my ever so tender sensitive skin ;)

Me too - they're lovely and fluffy out of the dryer.

You know. I have two boys and one day I'm going to be one of these MIL's. And their OH's are going to think I'm a complete biatch aren't they?

I don't think it's any different for boys and girls. I can't wait to be a pita MIL and go round to interfere with their ironing. :rotfl:

But none of mine will ever leave home because nobody will ever be good enough for them. ;)

Jillie I don't think I could survive a holiday with my own parents, never mind my IL's!

I actually think it was better than expected. The only thing that should have been done differently was Child Benefit. They shouldn't pay it to everyone. Do the very rich really need there child benefit every week?

I watched some documentary type thing once and a rich lady scoffed at the pittance of child benefit and laughed that it doesn't even cover the cost of her face cream, never mind the costs of children.

It did make me wonder why people who spend that much on face cream need child benefit.

I rely on ours and I'd really miss it if it went.

Another child benefit argument I've seen is people say it is for the children, so they save all of it into a savings account for when the child becomes an adult. I can see the positives of that, but I always thought it was meant to help with day to day living costs of a child, rather than putting it away until they are old enough to fend for themselves.

I've been on holiday with my Mam and the boys before. It was ok and I liked the company, but she didn't like me having too much to drink and we were back in the room early every night drinking cammomile tea.
Here I go again on my own....

I too love tumble dried towels, I find line dried ones rough and uncomfortable. Ze Deutschen seem to think that rough towels are a sign of being a good person, but then they also use two small ones instead of a bath towel to dry themselves after a shower, so the one they use on their butts never touches their faces. I think that if you are concerned about butt germs immediately out of the shower you probably need to hop right back in there cause you're doing it wrong.

The place we're viewing is indeed in the NW, about 40 minutes from my parents' (close enough that we'd be able to see them weekly; far enough away that there would be No Dropping In) and it is a beautiful building that we would be required to do some work on before moving in, so my contract would end well before we were able to move in. Husband is eminently mobile, and I would be able to use part of the building for private-practice counselling should I decide that is what I want to do.

My brain is having a bad day.

Sent two parcels TNT. Thought i'd sent one with the wrong address label, though the consignment note was correct. Rang them to explain. Have had a call back to say they can fix it and package will get to the right place tomorrow. And I have since realised that no, I didn't do it wrong in the first place, so there was no need to faff, panic and ring them and sound like a right incompetent pratt. Will my brain cells ever return to normal? or am i doomed to a life of dumbness?

    AFternoon all.

I'm looking for some advice again please. Here is my DD's routine at the moment:

Breakfast of 7oz formula when she gets up (usually around 8.30)

Lunch of 7oz formula plus 2 ice cube size portions of a fruit or veg puree (between 12noon and 1pm depending what time she had breakfast)

Tea of 7oz formula less what it takes to mix the 1-2 tsp of baby rice (which she wolfs down and likes it thicker like porridge) between 4pm and 5pm)

Supper of 7oz formula (between 7.30 and 8pm)

then a final top up of 3-4 oz formula about 9.45 then bed at 10pm. Most nights she sleeps through with no trouble.

I am quite happy with this routine but not sure where to go next. Do I increase the amount I'm giving her and decrease the amount of milk? Been to clinic today but it was only one of the younger health visitors and she didn't give me any real advice so I thought of you guys!

Could you PM me with any advice as this thread moves too fast for me to keep up with as I don't log on all the time.

    Thanks in advance

    Emma & baby Jessica

PS Can anyone tell me how to put piccies on here please?

    My stairs are in!!!!! woohoo!!!!

I can totally go up them... only to fall back through the loft hatch :D

But I understimated just how much work it will now take to get a hall rather than building site. It all needs plasterbaording and redecorating.

3, whereabouts are you? I don't want to say too much cause we've not even seen it yet, much less put in an offer/had it accepted/whatever.
