She seemed to think he should have comprehension of things like 'we're going out now!' or like you said 'where are your shoes?' neither of which I think mean anything to him.

I think he understands 'can you clap?' and 'can you wave?' because he does those whenever we say it. But everything else seems a bit flukey really, like he's just guessing until he gets the response that shows he's got it right (us smiling, clapping, saying 'good boy!')

he says 'yeah' and daddy. He doesn't seem to get that daddy is DH and says it frequently for no reason she was suggesting. She said 'so he uses it of any man'. My response was 'well no, he'd be just as likely to say it to an envelope or his raisins.'
But the things he will understand will depend on what things you have talked about to him. Even with older children often you have to use almost pro-forma wording to get them to understand things. (e.g. I told a five year old I thought he should apologise to someone and he looked blank. I then said, "I think you need to say sorry" and he understood. Alice would have understood the former but only because I use that wording and presumably his parents don't.) Recently when we were at someone's house they told Alice something was "on the sofa" and she didn't understand. This was because we don't have one so she didn't know what a sofa was. Also I found that Alice would sometimes say an incorrect word because she was unable to say the correct one rather than because she didn't know (e.g. she would call a ladybird "bee" even though if you showed her pictures of both and asked her to point she could correctly identify them).

For me it worked well (so far!) for a number of reasons:

pregnancy 2 over before baby 1 became too mobile
pregnancy 2 sicky stage whilst baby 1 still having 2 naps daily
baby 1 still under 24lb throughout PG2 so lifting not so hard
Caitlyn was 17lb in May... I bet she'll still be under 24lb when this baby comes!! (Yes, I have happy news ;))

Lovely to see you Weezly... Missed you :)

I won't even consider the train, luggage, pram, crawly baby, hyper toddler  sounds like hell to me :rotfl:
Actually, luggage and prams get stowed away and there's space to move around on a train and stretch your legs, there's tables to lean on to do activities with the toddler... I took Aimee to Glasgow when she was 3 and she was golden :)

just popped in to ask a quick question.....What did you all do for Christenings/Baptisms/Naming ceremonies...in terms of afterwards? Did you go home, invite everyone back home, book a venue, have a party at a pub, lay on kiddie entertainment etc, etc,
We went to the local nice posh pub and invited people to join us... At their own cost... ;)

Evening all, can't stop, baba needs a wipe down and sticking in pyjamas...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

    Eveing :)
Took Lily to the docs earlier about her eczema type rash thing. He said it looks like eczema and has given us a cream, he said he's going to hold off the steriod cream as if it gets worse the steriod creams wont work so well if we're already using it.

Am about to list some of my wedding stuff on ebay, either that or DH throws it away :(

He said he is being really ruthless with my "junk" and we're not taking it to the new house. So im going to try and sell it :D

BM - :j that is fab news! I had to have pictures of my boobies taken before I had my op so I know how scary that can be! I so did not feel like a Page 3 model with my boobs out in a photo studio - I wish I had though! :p

Weezl - could you ask OH when you should be concerned if baby teeth haven't come through? I'm not worried now but wonder if and when I should be worried! Ta very muchly :D

SM - you so don't even need a tummy tuck so :p

SJ - could it just be teeth? runny nappy and nappy rash? (not that I would know of course ;))

Susan - you always have fab words of wisdom! I'm sure I had something I wanted to say to you cos I keep thinking 'Oh, I must remember to mention that to Susan' but I cannot for the life of me remember what it is! :o

Beenie - You sent that text yet?

Em - I went into Smyth's Toy Store the other day and they had one for about £25 which was an umbrella fold but no idea how good it is. I have the Chicco one from the ASDA baby event for £50 and it's pretty good. :)

A very smily post from me today :D
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?
