Holly is in bed now....night 3 of letting her cry and she lasted 7 mins from leaving her room! :T
She is still waking during the night at around 4-5am, and I am not leaving her to cry at that stage at the moment. Hoping the night time wakenings will phase out, but we will see.
Boo - You are not recommended to rinse toothpaste out now as it rinses away the fluoride. You just paint on a tiny bit of toothpaste and leave it.
Thanks Fitzio, Im not sure why I thought I had to rinse it out so that makes life a lot easier, yey!! And yey to Holly only crying for 7 mins :Thammyhunter wrote: »I am glad you are happy with the nursery. I hope time drags until September
Wow, I can;t believe T is talking :T . Am I right in thinking you are still breastfeeding? Has it made a difference with Toby having a tooth? I am dreading D's first tooth _pale_
Yes I am still breastfeeding. Touch wood so far I have not noticed any difference with his tooth. Its at the bottom in the middle and he puts his tongue over it when feeding. Its not fully through yet but so far so good. Not sure whats gonna happen when the top ones come through through!!
Hammy, how many BF are you doing now generally? T is still having quite a few BF, definately one first thing say 7am, mid afternoon usually, then before bed. Also I always offer him a BF if he needs to top up after each meal and he will usually have a little bit then too, as I am still in the process of upping the quantities of food I give him as he sometimes isnt too keen. Im hoping to have got the daytime breastfeeds down before he goes to nursery, ideally with him just having one first thing and one last thing, although I dont mind doing more when Im home, as long as this doesnt confuse him??Baby Toby born 17th Nov 09 :j0 -

Is it helpful to say they get worse??
Benjamin is running now (proper full on running) and he likes to nick my coffee cup (I have always let him play with it when I have finished to give him the idea of using a normal cup) and RUN into the kitchen with it!!! He also has a habit of throwing things on the floor when he brings them to you so I am waiting for the smash of my denby on the stone floor!!!
Once they are toddling around outside there are all kind of things that you can't baby proof against...although I still await our first scabby knee (and am thankful Benjamin was wearing jeans at the farm today).
On the up side, the cuddles are returning - proper heartfelt cuddles from a little boy who knows that he is expressing love - little arms around your neck because your son wants to tell you he loves you is special :Aplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
We have no stairs here, but we have a stairgate on Izzy's bedroom door (so she can't go for a wander in the ngiht!) and one on the kitchen door so I can shut her out if the oven is on. I have locks on the bottom kitchen cupboards, but the one under the sink is the only one that stays locked all the time. Another cupboard has food in, and I don't normally mind her having a rummage, but it is handy to be able to lock it if she starts driving me up the wall with it!
Stair gates at the top of stairs scare me (unless they are the type with no bar at the bottom)... if we had stairs I would much rather just have a gate on her room and one at the bottom of the stairs I think.
Edited to add - Boo - you will be fine feeding during the day when you are around and not when he is at nursery - that is what I doI got a bit full up the first week or so during the day, so was dying to get her latched on when I got home, but it doesn't take long for your body to get used to it. I don't know how you feel about bottles at nursery, but they can always give him formula in a cup if he still wants some milk in the daytime

Thanks Fitz. I never thought about the calcium thing but she loves fromage frais so that shouldn't be a problem.
I just wish I had some sort of measurements on my boobs so I knew how much she was getting:rotfl: - I wouldn't have to be guesstimating then. I suppose at half an ounce a minute (dunno how much an ounce is really:o) she may be drinking for about half an hour all in from me {shrug}. It just never seems to be much.
Will try moo milk tomorrow and see how we get on....

It's alien to me as I always rinse (but then I have lots of fillings), but i asked the dentist about it a few years ago when someone in my work told me that their child was being taught not to rinse. Dentist said that because the nation's teeth are so bad, it helps by not rinsing away the fluoride. We also have Childsmile appts here for babies when they are a couple of months old and the dentist showed us how to brush their teeth, and they definitely don't recommend rinsing nowadays!
On the baby proofing, I have said before that we get it done by a company for free in my council area. I will definitely be getting stair gates, but my living room is open plan to my stairs, so I don't have the option to close the door. We don't have many tables etc for bumps though so not thought about anything else really.
I'm off to bed as this is really slow and it's annoying me. Goodnight all. x0 -
MFD: DD used to go into the fridge and smash eggs on the floor. Was her favourite game for a good few months and there was no fridge lock that kept her out. I cannot stand raw egg and I think half the attraction of the game was laughing at me retch while clearing it up!
On that happy note, I'm off to bed as its running too slow for my patience tonight!!

This made me fill up as tonight for the first time in months, C woke up screaming (about 20 mins ago) and then sat on my knee, wrapped around me like a koala, put her head on my shoulder and fell asleep. She's not one for huge cuddles so this was so nice tonight and then reading this description made me feel all snuggly inside :happylovexxxMy baby girl :kisses3: September 09 :heartsmil0 -
Oops -- I answered the phone about half an hour ago and it was MIL - she was asking about our holiday and I completely forgot they were back from their holiday today, so didn't ask about theirs. I hope she didn't think I was being rude

I think Elijah does or has done all the bad or scary things mentioned by people tonight
 running with cups and headbutting corners and flinging off sofas and etc! It does indeed get worse before it gets better, and so far at least it has got better in some ways but worse in others
Really dire day today. OH has been getting more and more sensitive nipples due to being pregnant, and at the same time recently we've had a few reasons to disrupt Elijah's usual schedule for naps and bedtimes... BF is still (and we know, we have made a rod for our backs) a key part of our routines but it has got to stop soon for OH's sake.
So for afternoon nap he wasn't showing enough signs of tiredness for ages... eventually around 2.30ish we felt it might work and OH had a go; ten minutes in she totally blew up and screamed at himI rushed in and he clung to me sobbing hysterically while she sobbed hysterically... apparently he was clawing and biting at her throughout. So I took him out in the car as a desperate measure as he has always always fallen asleep in car if tired - drove around for an hour and he wouldn't sleep, just went all zombie glaze-eyed stare (sorry Tia!).
So he had no nap at all today  and made up for it by eventually going to bed ... quarter of an hour early! And OH is desperate to wean him right now. She promises me that she wouldn't have freaked out if on her own without me to take over... siiiigh!0
