Beenie is missing in action, Caz is too - I hope they are ok
Can I ask your opinions please. Now D is getting more mobile we have been discussing home safety. I think that it is not worth covering corners of tables etc as the covers are easily pulled off and D should never be left unattended. I know there is a chance he could bang his head but I feel he has to learn how to be careful..... DH is horrified by this... am I really lax?The one thing children wear out faster than shoes is parents:D

I'm the same, to be honest. We'll get some kind of stairgate and probably a child lock for the cupboard that has all the cleaning stuff in but I think that is about it. I can't believe D is pulling himself up already. He looks like a cheeky little thing!
Race for Life was fab today. I did it in 32 minutes which I was quite pleased with, although I was hoping to do sub 30. The person who came first did it in 21 minutes . I'm quite tired now though.
Well done on your victory, Krystal!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -

I bought corner covers from Ikea that are little hands and they haven't come off at all. I have only stuck them to 'sharp' corners (the ones that could have his eye out) and I didn't do the dining table (which is what he walks into most frequently LOL) but IMHO they have been well worth it....and I have a reputation for being a lax mummy!
Other than that I have a fireguard and that is it. I agree that they need to learn - and I believe that part of that is giving them the freedom to learn.
Benjamin was an early crawler, stander and cruiser too - although he wasn't so quick to walk because he got around too quickly on his knees and could climb onto anything in a second!
Bless them - they grow up so quickly!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Thanks Jillie and MFD. Will try her with moo milk tomorrow - I'll just make sure no one comes on tonight with horror stories of babies starting mooing cos they had it too early :rotfl:
Hammy - I'm with you apart from our marble hearth which I cover with cusions. Everything else shouldn't cause her too much damage - she head butted the wall tonight from her cot (lowering it at weekend) and didn't seem to bother (it wasn't too hard - just a bump) so will just see how she goes with tables etc.

Evening all. Finally got on here after holiday - came back on Friday, but have been so busy with washing and life and stuff. What did I miss. I require an update please
We had a lovely time on holiday (asside from the fact that DH is a KH and I should have left him at home :rotfl:). The caravan park we stayed at was lovely - there were lakes, so lots of ducks and geese and things (all with little fluffy babies of course) and there was a swimming pool, a soft play area and a playground, so Izzy was happy. We had day trips out to various places, including a farm where we got to stroke bunnies and see a goat being milked and the pigs being fed. Izzy fell in love with the baby chicks
Oh, and we have a few more words - gone, bubble, kick, and possibly more too.
We have been trying controlled crying since we got back. I'm doing the version where you do pick up/cuddle/talk/whatever to calm them down when you go in, so I'm having to give her some milk when I go back in just to get her to calm down a bit (otherwise she just sits on my lap crying hysterically, rather than having a lull then getting upset again when I go again iyswim), but I'm sure we will get there. At the very least I'm getting to do 5, then 7, then 9 minutes of washing up/pratting around on the net/eating my tea, rather than not starting all those things till after she is asleep

:T wow, well done Gisi, you should be really pleased with yourself :T
I agree about the locks on cleaning cupboards. I am currently thinking that we will def get a stair gate at the top of the stairs but I am in 2 minds about the bottom. He is obviously some way away from climbing stairs but as soon as he is capable I would hope I could teach him how to come down stairs safely too. Hmm, I have no idea if this is realistic though. HELP!The one thing children wear out faster than shoes is parents:D
