fattybooboo wrote: »Well I have sorted out my return to work, boo hiss!! Ive booked T into a local nursery for 2 days, Im gonna work on Tues and Weds all day. I was really impressed with the nursery and they played with T whilst the lady was talking me through what they do, and he seemed really happy which I thought was a good enough indication of the place
Going to start work in September so still have a little while off but no doubt its gonna fly!!
T has also started saying mamama and dadada just lately which is very cute and copying us when we wave. He has been a bit more 'cry-ey' (clearly not a word) today though so I wonder if his 2nd tooth is coming through, think it looks a bit raised right next to his 1st tooth.
I have started to brush his tooth with a teeny bit of baby toothpaste, what do I do about rinsing it out, I have been trying to give him a drink from his sippy cup, is that a good idea?
Thanks xx
I am glad you are happy with the nursery. I hope time drags until September
Wow, I can;t believe T is talking :T . Am I right in thinking you are still breastfeeding? Has it made a difference with Toby having a tooth? I am dreading D's first tooth _pale_The one thing children wear out faster than shoes is parents

I am not sure when we would ever use one either...we are upstairs if we are in bed and downstairs if we are awake (and I keep the living room door closed).
The reason we are getting a gate on the bottom stair is that everytime someone goes out the living room door, K follows to see where you are going so when you shut the door behind you to keep him in, he sits behind the door (and you can't get back in til OH comes and lifts him away.)
There is nothing else downstairs that he can get into so hes allowed to just dot about as long as its not the stairs IYKWIM
He has a gate on his bedroom door too as we sit up there sometimes in the day playing with toys and things. With my back and shoulder being knackered its easier than fetching him back into the room and I don't like the door shut up there as it freaks the dog out
That gate was in the loft from when Zac was a puppy so may as well get use out of it! 0 -
We have a stairgate top and bottom of stairs, fireguard and lock on cupboard under the sink. Dont really have any low corners so not a problem here.. just reading back I'm thinking we have another month or 2 before this with William..(its his 6 month birthday today
) where did that time go  !!
Another night without dummy but probably ok as Henry was sooo tired from no sleep today and having been up since 6.30...No success still with TT at home, just hope its sorted before our holiday in August, it would be so nice to only have one in nappies:D
Had to go into loft and get some bigger clothes down for WG - his others are getting a bit tight....
Right bottles done, ironing done, 11 things of my list done and sandwiches made for tomorrow..mmmm maybe an early night is in order as OH has nipped to pub for a quick pint.
Boo - you have reminded me I better start on Williams 2 teeth now especially as he is eating proper food nowMum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -
I can't believe how advanced David and Kieren are! They are growing up very quickly! Curious little things ha ha.
Holly has some very funny moves like half crawling but 1 leg oustretched straight. It seems to make her move much quicker going backwards or in circles! We are going to soft play tomorrow with my friend so hopefully she can take lessons in moving forwards from her little boy.
Well done GISI on your race. Forgot to wish you luck this morning, sorry.
Jam - I too would think that cows milk is fine as a top up, but H is only on 3 bottles per day at the moment so I don't think that 3 milk feeds is too little anyway. I dropped one of her bottles a few weeks ago. For formula it's recommended between 18-24 ounces or something like that at their age, so she has 3 x 7oz bottles. Sometimes she finishes them, sometimes she only takes 5 or 6oz.
I heard the HV at Baby Clinic telling another mum to put milk in anything she could as her baby wouldn't drink much milk, so adding lots to mashed potato, cheese sauce etc. The baby was maybe nearer a year old though, but all these things count as calcium. A fromage frais pot is equivalent to 2oz milk as far as I recall (in relation to calcium). Not sure about iron, but as long as she eats plenty of green veg and stuff then it shouldn't be a problem.0 -
Thanks for all your help and suggestions :iloveyou:
I am too yawning too much so I am off to read in bed.

Holly is in bed now....night 3 of letting her cry and she lasted 7 mins from leaving her room! :T
She is still waking during the night at around 4-5am, and I am not leaving her to cry at that stage at the moment. Hoping the night time wakenings will phase out, but we will see.
Boo - You are not recommended to rinse toothpaste out now as it rinses away the fluoride. You just paint on a tiny bit of toothpaste and leave it.
Thanks Fitzio, Im not sure why I thought I had to rinse it out so that makes life a lot easier, yey!! And yey to Holly only crying for 7 mins :Thammyhunter wrote: »I am glad you are happy with the nursery. I hope time drags until September

Yes I am still breastfeeding. Touch wood so far I have not noticed any difference with his tooth. Its at the bottom in the middle and he puts his tongue over it when feeding. Its not fully through yet but so far so good. Not sure whats gonna happen when the top ones come through through!!
Hammy, how many BF are you doing now generally? T is still having quite a few BF, definately one first thing say 7am, mid afternoon usually, then before bed. Also I always offer him a BF if he needs to top up after each meal and he will usually have a little bit then too, as I am still in the process of upping the quantities of food I give him as he sometimes isnt too keen. Im hoping to have got the daytime breastfeeds down before he goes to nursery, ideally with him just having one first thing and one last thing, although I dont mind doing more when Im home, as long as this doesnt confuse him??Baby Toby born 17th Nov 09 :j0 -

Is it helpful to say they get worse??
Benjamin is running now (proper full on running) and he likes to nick my coffee cup (I have always let him play with it when I have finished to give him the idea of using a normal cup) and RUN into the kitchen with it!!! He also has a habit of throwing things on the floor when he brings them to you so I am waiting for the smash of my denby on the stone floor!!!
Once they are toddling around outside there are all kind of things that you can't baby proof against...although I still await our first scabby knee (and am thankful Benjamin was wearing jeans at the farm today).
On the up side, the cuddles are returning - proper heartfelt cuddles from a little boy who knows that he is expressing love - little arms around your neck because your son wants to tell you he loves you is special :Aplease listen to MFD - she is a wise woman

We have no stairs here, but we have a stairgate on Izzy's bedroom door (so she can't go for a wander in the ngiht!) and one on the kitchen door so I can shut her out if the oven is on. I have locks on the bottom kitchen cupboards, but the one under the sink is the only one that stays locked all the time. Another cupboard has food in, and I don't normally mind her having a rummage, but it is handy to be able to lock it if she starts driving me up the wall with it!
Stair gates at the top of stairs scare me (unless they are the type with no bar at the bottom)... if we had stairs I would much rather just have a gate on her room and one at the bottom of the stairs I think.
Edited to add - Boo - you will be fine feeding during the day when you are around and not when he is at nursery - that is what I do
I got a bit full up the first week or so during the day, so was dying to get her latched on when I got home, but it doesn't take long for your body to get used to it. I don't know how you feel about bottles at nursery, but they can always give him formula in a cup if he still wants some milk in the daytime

Thanks Fitz. I never thought about the calcium thing but she loves fromage frais so that shouldn't be a problem.
I just wish I had some sort of measurements on my boobs so I knew how much she was getting:rotfl: - I wouldn't have to be guesstimating then. I suppose at half an ounce a minute (dunno how much an ounce is really:o) she may be drinking for about half an hour all in from me {shrug}. It just never seems to be much.
Will try moo milk tomorrow and see how we get on....
