I have done that when I get to pay rip off postage. Sometimes I can see the postage is excessive but i really want the item, I would normally ask seller is postage is correct they often tell me that it covers all their shoe leather, fees, time spent wrapping etc so I bid but when asked my impression of postage and packing will be honest. If have paid for more than post and packing therefore I am neutral (3*) about this set of stars.

I do a similar thing. Also on cheaper items sometimes you do not realise the P&P is excessive untill you receive it. If i'm happy with the overall price and don't want to haggle the postage i'll slam the stars.

i cant understand why a buyer would leave poss fed back and then mark you down with the stars? there seems to be no way to find out who has given you a lower mark... i would wish that buyers would either say 'im not happy with this product/service etc' so that the problem can be sorted before an account gets frozen..
Also for rexample I bought a product the other day. The only one on ebay so I had no choice of seller. So I risk one with lower fb and DSRs than I normally would. The item arrives thye postage was 3 times cost price. Since receiving it I have had 5 quite rude emails asking me to leave FB. I will leave a positive (in a couple of weeks as it'll drive him mad) but the P&P star and communication will be slammed. I'm not worried about what I paid and I really don't want to get into conversation with the seller.

Some problems can't be sorted so their is no point contacting the seller. Some buyers don't want confrontation so make their feelings felt in stars. A lot of sellers need to take their heads out if the sand and realise how important the DSRs are and focus a little on customer service and be a little more Proactive than reactive to problems because a lot of the time you won't be told about your problems.

If your starts start slipping you need to try and rectify that before they hit 4.6/4.5 when you will be lowered in searches and start to put customers off
  • I contacted a seller today about a technical problem that I am having with the item and mentioned that I couldnt understand why they charged £5 postage for an item that clearly had stamped on it £1.65 and noted to them that I would have to mention this in the postage and packing DSR

at least I am letting them know before hand and giving them the chance to explain it ( there might be a factor that I had not considered )

they dont have to of course - free country - but its a heads up !
As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question ! ;)

I must say I am not a business seller and sell the same way I would liek to be sold to.

Much like I got an e-mail saying an item hadn't arrive, I usually nicely asked them to wait a month and let me know if it arrives. After that time if they get back to me and say they still haven't got it, I give a full refund and say sorry things go missing sometimes.

They thing is I know very well they might just be after a free item, but unless I can prove they have had it I will lose... so why fight it?

I can say on the buying side I have had an item never arrive and had to push it with a paypal dispute to which they got quite aggresive, they soon got themselves a negative. Meanwhile I have had sellers handle it like me and they still get a positive if they handle the situation well.

Technically thats how long it takes before royal will admit its lost, as it is people have always been fine with this and 3 out 4 times it does appear in that month (I mean month from posting date that is).

Saying that I do give dates and on that date double check with them and refund as soon as they confirm is not arrived. I also advise them to open a paypal dispute just to cover themselves in these situations.

Clearly my DSR's haven't suffered as I have remained friendly and kept to my word.

Maybe they mean it's a month for Royal Mail to sort it out. It's 15 days before Royal Mail consider it to be possibly lost and you can put in a claim. Probably is closer to a month before they admit it's lost though.

the DSR system is just BS, i dont know why they even set it up, i guess it might be to edge out the lil people so the BIG firms like argos tesco can cut in,... i donno

Wait dont it do some thing to your Listing via a buyers Search ?? puts you lower in the results etc ?
