a. Retired Greyhound Trust (RGT)
b. http://www.retiredgreyhounds.co.uk/
c. Charity which rehomes ex-racing greyhounds.
d. Greyhounds make excellent pets.Their actual character is far removed from the all action animal that you see on the track.Give them a comfy bed, a good meal and normal walkies and they are more than happy!
However, some Greyhounds are not fit to be homed, and these are kept at one of the 64 branches of the RGT to live out their days in peace and happiness. The RGT never put down a healthy dog.If you cannot rehome a dog, then you can always sponsor a kennelled one! Please help these lovely animals!Debt free!!!!!!!!!! :j0 -
a. Faith School El Borj
b. http://faithschoolmorocco.co.uk/index2.html
c. Educating Berber children in El Borj, Morocco
d. This is a charity set up by a friend of mine who grew up in the Atlas mountains. He was one of the few children lucky enough to get an education there (most Berbers cannot read or write). Although he now lives in the UK he has family and friends still there. The charity has bought a piece of land and is raising the funds to build its own school and buy modern equipment including computers. It also wants to provide funds to start small businesses and to provide medical aid and health education (many there have no concept of how to keep themselves well).0 -
I Would like to nominate CHUF (Childrens Heart Unit Fund)
www.chuf.org.uk
They are a charity that help by funding equipment, personnel, research, or anything else that may be needed to help keep the unit at the forefront of children's coronary care.
This is a charity close to my heart as they helped one of my neighbours recover from a Heart Transplant.0 -
I would like to nominate two charities. Firstly, the Teenage Cancer Trust - I've temped there from time to time, and the work they put in to making sure that a terrifying time for both teenager and family is made as easy and unremarkable as possible is astonishing. The office team is tiny, and I can vouch for the fact that nothing goes on their workplace comforts whatsoever...
https://www.teenagecancertrust.org
The second is a charity that has helped me personally, and without whom I would have had to give up any hope of affording career training last year. It might seem frivolous to nominate a small arts charity, but the relatively modest grants given out by Sophie's Silver Lining Fund - https://www.sslf.org.uk - mean that many young aspiring singers and actors from less privileged backgrounds can carry on into further education, and into the profession rather than just dreaming.

Zöe's Place
http://zoes-place.org.uk/index.htm
Baby Hospice in Liverpool and Middlesbrough
Zöe's cares for babies who have multiple special needs. They offer respite and palliative terminal care to babies and their parents from birth. Although they are a Baby Hospice, which can conjure up thoughts in people's minds of dying and sorrow, Zöe's is not like this. All our babies come here to live. Zöe's is a place full of laughter, fun and love, and any tears that might be shed are usually tears of joy. Never more so than when one of our special babies achieves something that they have never done before, whether it is holding a toy, raising their head, or making distinct noises in response to something or someone. This may sound trivial to some people, but for parents and ourselves, it is progress. Our special babies come to Zöe's to live life to the full. Following any contact with Zöe's, help is always available to the families.0 -
cherw1981 wrote:I would like to nominate the National Assocation for Crohns & Colitis - https://www.nacc.org.uk
Crohns/Colitis are two forms of IBD. They are very dehabilitating and are becoming more common especially amongst teens and people in their early 20's.
I am 24 and have had Crohns for 9 years. I cant work because of it and because of a lack of knowledge about this disease many people dont understand why as i look seemingly okay. Many people with Crohns have to adjust their lifestyle around it. The stomach pain, weight loss, joint ache, loss of energy can be so extreme. Often people with Crohns end up having 2-3 operations in their life time. I cant express how strongly i feel that the NACC should be a benefactor of the MSE's goodwill.
The NACC provide much needed to support to 30'000 members across the UK. They support friends, families and carers of people with Crohns, run a support phoneline, advise with benefit claims (the government does not seem to see Crohns as a disability!!?), they run a welfare fund to help with people struggling with money, donate to local hospitals lacking in resources and they fund research which is vital as the cause of Crohns is still unknown. They rely on donations and i urge you all to consider them seriously, every little would mean a whole lot to us.
Thankyou for reading
Cher x
I'm with Cher on this one as there are more and more people suffering this disease. I have had this for 37 years and it was very rare when I got it, but it is now a very common disease that many people know little of.0 -
hi i would like to nominate kirstys appeal
http://www.kirstysappeal.co.uk/
a little girls dream to help others
hi this appeal is about a v special little girl called kirsty howard she lives in manchester and was born with her heart back to front, so all other organs are misplaced. Kirsty has a single pumping chamber heart and has had nine Cardiac procedures. Her day-to-day living is severely restricted by abnormal blood vessels developing in her lung. Kirsty is one in 60 million, and was given six weeks to live in February 1999. but kirstys appeal isnt just for her she has a quest to raise 5 million to keep francis house secure
Francis House receives less than 4% government funding, so all the running and caring costs are by voluntary donation only. £5 million is needed to ensure the long-term viability of the hospice and the consequences of that figure not being raised aren't worth thinking about.RECLAIM YOUR BANK CHARGES I DID LOL £6K BETTER OFF, £293.00 EQUITA BAILIFFS WON, £600 APPROX WELCOME FINANCE PPI WON,CAPITAL ONE £944.00 WON
Also helped reclaim over £30,000 for family members my claim to fame meeting our own Mr MSE and appearing on his programme :rotfl:0 -
i would like to nominate http://www.aht.org.uk/ these treat all animals for pregnancy through to cancer, i know there is insurance out there for all responsible owners but they do a fantastic job in treating animals and are only 1 of 3 practices in the country with access to an mri scanner. It might not sound as appealing as some charities but most of us have pets but have a huge hole in our pocket after taking our little pet to the vet.0

Nile wrote:I would like to nominate the Citizens Advice Bureau.
Their website is www.citizensadvice.org.uk/
The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers. Every Citizens Advice Bureau is a registered charity reliant on trained volunteers and funds to provide these vital services for local communities.
I never thought I would need them but they recently gave me excellent advice and support.:A0
