I applied for Halifax easy cash, checked my Experian and Callcredit files both had a soft search. Does it mean for full search they now use Call credit as well?0

Halifax / BOS use Call Credit for a money laundering search IME, that's all. The full search would be with experian - again, in my experience that is.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Hi There
I have scoured these pages and am still a little confused, i don't have the best credit but only from a cpl missed payments nothing too serious, on my experian account that is......
I need a credit card to do a balance transfer of around £2000 but i need to be sure that they will only search experian when applying .
Could someone point me out in the right direction of a cpl cards that just use experian, that way i can do some more research as i really want to get it right and be certain.
Thanks for help in this matter .

I checked Callcredit report recently and both Aqua and Vanquis are not showing up although they did on both previous reports I've had from ~1 month and ~5 months ago. They do still show up as reporting address change details however.
Has anybody else experienced this? I paid both off/down recently and now have low utilisation on each, this could perhaps be the reason although that would still be odd.
It's a pain as I'm now looking for a 0% BT after @18mo good credit history but the Moneysupermarket and similar ComparetheMarket tools give me low chance on everything as they check Callcredit and think I have high credit utilisation - since they're not seeing the two cards with large free credit!0 -
erm, quick one
Halifax & Bank of Scotland (incl. Marriot Rewards, Sainsbury's)
Search: EX* (+ EQ, CC for Aqua Card)
Report: EX, EQ, CC
EQ+CC for Aqua card, how come on their website in the FAQ's relating to credit searches they advise to check Experian?

Back in 2002 I used to bank with HSBC had been with them when they were Midland Bank. But defaulted on a credit card, applied for an account with them again, checked my Experian files and no search, but just checked with Equifax and there was a full credit search. Never thought they used Equifax for current account searches.
Experian shut down don't they around midnight as I can't re-check.
Anyone know more on HSBC:o0 -

Hi Endox
You'll notice that most lenders use either Experian or Equifax to credit search for their products, very few use Callcredit.
It is therefore far more important that you check your Experian and Equifax files for inaccuracy and missing information.
Comparison sites use Callcredit for their 'pre-checkers' because they are considerably cheaper per search than the other two.

Hi big Daddy Dave
The information shown in the link you have posted does not actually say they search Experian, they merely supply an affiliated link saying you can check your Experian credit file.
Aqua use a company called HD Decisions to carry out their credit checks (they describe them as their 'processing agent'). HD Decisions are behind various pre-checking tools, the likes of which are used by Barclaycard, Confused and Money Supermarket. These tools tend to search Equifax or Callcredit.
That said, the information displayed on this thread is supplied by other MSE forum users and is not warranted as accurate or necessarily what you will experience.
If you decide to apply for the Aqua card please do let me know which agency they used.
