I wish this would be made into a sticky so I don't have to search through pages for it. But nevermind.

A quick question I said I would post on behalf of a family member.

Who do Barclays search when applying for a student overdraft?

They searched equifax when she opened the account but it is not reported on her equifax, just her experian.

They base overdraft allowances on current account conduct; if you already have a student account and want an overdraft (increase) rather than a new account there shouldn't be a credit search; just a yes or no based on how you've run the account.

  • Hi All

Trying to make a loan app for about 8-9 grand approx for a newish car. Got clean files with equifax + experian, no defaults or CCJs to note, and good scores with both.

Made an application with Santanter (who i only realised weren't much good until i looked on here) and got rejected.

I didn't know why, and i was a bit baffled, and wondered if it was my credit card being at 82% of max. (out of £2000, but its not updated and nearer 62%).

No missed payments, no other loans.

Until I realised, Santanter (through A+L) used Call Credit. I looked there, and my report is horrid - 2 defaults, but no CCJ. Would that be why i was turned down?

Is there any provider that preferably uses equifax, that I can use, without callcredit being searched? (experian ive had 2 searches in the last week, one with peugeot - (i was accepted for that, btw - but turned it down) and this.

    Any suggestions?

I discovered that Vanquis report to Callcredit all of the data on accounts such as cash advances, balances etc. This does not appear on the credit expert report. Oh, same for Co-operative Bank credit card all details with CC but missing on EX report.

Just thought peeps would like to know. As per top of this thread, 1staudiovisual are shown as using V12 for credit. Just tried them, and the option was not offered, and then spoke to their online support, who confirmed they no longer offer it.

The reason is, 1staudiovisual went into liquidation and BME ltd bought the website, but do not have any contrat to offer finance.

So if you have a clean Callcredit file, and want home entertainment stuff, they are no longer an option I am afraid.
