Credit Reference Agencies - Who Really Uses Who? II

Hi All
I have just recently sold my house as we are looking to move. My current mortgage is with First Active (Royal Bank of Scotland).
I called them six weeks ago before I put my house on the market and went through the affordability calculator for extra borrowing and they agreed the value, I would have to do an application for the extra mortgage when I had sold and found somewhere.
I already have an account with experian to keep an eye on my credit report and presumed there were no problems as my report looked clear and was listed in the excellent bracket!
So today after selling my house and finding a property I applied for the additional borrowing to be told a big a fat NO because I failed the credit score!!! To be honest I was unaware at the time untill reading here that lenders use different companies. After many calls to RBS today it turns out that they ONLY USE EQUIFAX TO SEARCH. They wont expect my excellent rating on experian.
I have now just paid to view mine and my husband's equifax report and I am listed as GOOD and my husband is listed as EXCELLENT. Mine being lower due to a late payment in August 2008.
I just wish I had read this threat before and it just goes to show how tight the banks are on lending!!0 -
i openend a LTSB classic vantage two weeks ago following some 3 or 4 years of basic accounts with Barclays, Nationwide, etc etc.
my first *full* current account in yearsi guess my credit file is looking a little better then it did a few years ago.
I will be waiting atleast a year before i even consider asking them for any kind of credit as i have way to many credit searches on my file at present, and some adverse that needs to drop off.
Hopefully by then if i have got a CPD or 99 or whatever they give you it will be gone, and i will hopefully have some kind of internal score with Lloyds.
I have banked with barclays on and off for around 15 years, had a current account, closed it, had another closed it, had a joint current account, closed it.. lol now a basic is all they will offer me.
do you know in 15 years of banking with them, (the first 8 years i have a 100% clean credit file) they offered me nothing, no CGC, no loan, no O/D not a penny in credit, there customer service has gone down hill in recent years, if you call the phone bank all you get is an indian call center, unless you are prepared to pay to be a premier customer (£25) per month then you get a dedicated UK team.
Thats why i have moved to Lloyds, + i have never banked with them before, so decided i wanted a fresh start.

trevorsminted Reported for Abuse
Are you going to advertise to everyone every single time you report another member or thread? It won't be when the spam button is introduced shortly. And no, I only place it on threads presently where there is an off topic comment, not new posts. If you don't like it, sorry but tough.Best Regards

But your "Abuse, reported" comments are also off topic, and almost as disruptive as the original comments you report as it's completely unneccesary and fill up the threads with useless junk.
I can't really see it being of help to anyone, considering we all know where the abuse button is and how to use it. I'm sure there are countless other members reporting the very same comments as you however they don't feel the need to publicise their actions.
There are more constructive ways to increase your post count if that's what you're trying to achieve. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I think you'll find the majority of my posts have nothing to do with trolls actually, so get your facts straight. I don't pick arguements with people for no reason to increase my post count...
I posted specifically in this case as a user was abusive towards another for no reason whatsoever. In actual fact, by stating I had reported it, it saved other people having to report it. And as I have said, I will continue until the full spam button comes online shortly per post as opposed to per thread.Best Regards
