TBH don't think izools is in the position to pick and choose what bank account he wants.
Think izools is lucky that LTSB have giving him/her platinum account with him/her's past history.
Yeah, that, too  If I had no adverse I'd be over to HSBC in a heartbeat but now I have my foot in the door with LTSB I don't want to walk up the street to be told "sorry sir, computer says you're a deadbeat. Get out please".
Even if I did have impeccable credit I don't think I'd be offered such an overdraft straight off the bat anyway. LTSB have clearly started to recognise my ability to handle an acconut properly and I hope that carries on. I have built a history over time with them and I don't want to have to start from square one again with another bank.
A lot of my credit problems from years gone by stemmed from (amongst other things) my inability to maintain the status quo. I now have the ability to maintain the status quo and don't want to distrub such a valuable principle purely because HSBC might not lie so much about their account scoring system.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

It is an AVA account yes but it is also credit scored. They don't give it to any willing customer who has a standard account.
Ask in the banking section on these forums if you don't believe me.
I could downgrade it to Classic Vantage if I wished to but as I have two expensive telephones, one for work purposes and one personal, it works out good value considering they are providing it to me half price (for now at least).
Not to mention the £250 interest free overdraft.
These two benefits are worth more than the £8.50 I am paying for the account as without them I would be paying 2x £9 a month mobile phone insurance + 1x £5 monthly fee any time I dipped into my overdraft for the last day before payday each month.
I'm money saving savvy enough not to take out an AVA account I don't need, if I was a dipstick in this regard I'd have the Premier account.Its-A-New-Age-Thing wrote: »well ive been a customer of all 3 banks, so i know first hand ADDITIONALLY if the tax payer didnt bail them out theyd no longer EXIST
thats how good they are at runnin there organisation
So which banks didn't the government bail out?
Barclays - most pitiful and dire customer service in the world plus a system that breaks my standing orders and charges me for the privelage.
HSBC - Won't give me an account and if they did I wouldn't have UK call centres open 24/7 with no queue on an 01 number - the most overriding important factor for me in a bank.
Santander - ... Do I really need to comment?
So out of the remaining banks - RBS Group, HBOS, or Lloyds TSB, the choice is obvious really, isn't it?
I think that's quite enough chastising what you don't understand, thank you.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Please read my whole post before continuing to chastise me, you won't look so stupid.
I don't have a Clydesdale branch in town.
Co-Operative bank won't give me a full account nor are their branches open on a saturday. I have been with them before and their customer service hours are not to my requirements and queue times horrendous in branch and on phone.
HSBC won't give me a full account nor do they have exclusively UK call centres open 24/7
Nationwide are absolutely dire. They have so little ability to do anything for the customer in branch and I had a justifiably terrible experience with them years ago.
They refused to let me withdraw over £200 a day over the counter or cashpoint even if I asked to close my account.
The only way to get my £800 out of my old Nationwide account was to sit on the floor in the middle of the teller queue and loudly proclaim "I'm not moving until I get my money. Close my account".
They threatened to call the police so I said fine you can explain why you're stealing my money and they gave it to me.
I subsequently went next door to barclays to open account and banked with them for many years but as they shipped everything offshore I had to leave as I was unable to speak to anyone who knew how to do a simple task.
I missed my first rent payment last September because Barclays didn't set up the standing order to the name I specified (despite spelling it phoenetically).
I have very specific, and warranted reasons why I don't bank elsewhere and if you care to read my posts properly and thoroughly you might understand.
As now you are just coming back with half-baked irrelevant replies to posts you've not read completely.
The most important point being:A lot of my credit problems from years gone by stemmed from (amongst other things) my inability to maintain the status quo. I now have the ability to maintain the status quo and don't want to distrub such a valuable principle purely because HSBC might not lie so much about their account scoring system.
Suffice it to say, I no longer make half baked, uninformed decisions that result in me having to rethink after a short timeframe. I am comfortable with my decision, I know it is the best one to make until my circumstances change greatly, and have frankly spend enough time justifying myself to smoeone who can't even read a post properly.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

The only bank account I'd consider having other than what I have now is the First Direct account. HSBC don't offer several things that I require from a bank - like a UK Call centre open 24/7 accessible on a 01 number.
I had a Flex Account, yes. I was 17 so no overdraft or chequebook, no.
An account which doesn't allow you to withdraw more than £200 a day even if you go into branch with photo ID and want to close it (if that's a condition of making such a withdrawal) isn't worth having.
It might be for some people, not for me.
So in conclusion, the fact that I can't get an account elsewhere doesn't change the fact that every bank account available on the Exeter High Street is MUCH WORSE than mine, for my needs, with the absolute singular exception of the First Direct account which I will seriously consider applying for later down the line.
if and only if I can justify such a big upset to the status quo purely for the fact that the brand is slightly better respected by other people. As it stands, I'm not vein enough to succumb to such a thing.
You can't seriously expect me to consider a different bank, despite the fact they are worse at fulfilling my needs, and have (in some cases) proven themselves to be utterly incompetent, because someone up in their ivory tower writing reviews decides it might be better for me? I'm much more comfortable pulling out a LTSB debit card than Santander, Barclays, Nationwide, or RBS (group) card.
i take out £300 from a cashline (nationwide) and then go into the branch if i want more its not difficult.0 -
