HI Tara and everyone
I would like to join. I've read as much of the thread as possible and to be honest I am not sure if I will be able to resist my daily chocolate . But I too want to lose at least a stone. So at the very least I will subscribe to this thread and see how I go. Life will be so much harder with out my chocolate:o0 -
I didn't buy or eat any chocolate bars today:j. The naughty voice inside my head kept reminding me about chocolate but luckily the wiser voice won and I resisted. I have eaten 5 digestive biscuits with chocolate chips though, 2 when I came home from work before cooking dinner and 3 just now. When that packet is finished (hopefully by OH) I'm only going to have custard creams in the house as the OH loves them and I only eat them when I'm desperate!
When I woke up this morning the thought that I wasn't going to have any chocolate today made me feel grumpy. I must say though that I've had a good day at work and have completed a piece of work that has been hanging around for a while which put me in a positive frame of mind.
I will need to nip to the supermarket tomorrow which will present a challenge. I am going to take a carefully planned shopping list which will include some healthy treats for me to help keep me on the straight and narrow.0 -
Hi all and welcome!!! Sorry the thread has been so quiet the last few days, I have been very bad on the chocolate front and just felt too dispirited to post.
But seeing your determination renews my own and I am going to start afresh tomorrow!
footymadgal wrote: »I read about this thread on the no buying toiletries in May challenge - thanks, Tara for posting the link. I would like to join, please. I've read through all of your posts and must say it's comforting to know that there are others with the same chocolate addiction as me and that many of you are all or nothing types! Strangely enough, I haven't had any chocolate today but I have eaten some cake and biscuits. It's rare for me to have a chocolate-free day though. I don't generally keep it in the house but buy it to eat at work (I have my own office so can do this with no one else knowing - dangerous!).
I would like to lose 1.5 stone and I'm sure it is chocolate alone that has caused me to be overweight. A few years ago I did lose quite a lot of weight by calorie counting (1500 per day) and exercise and found that it was best to include a small amount of chocolate into my daily diet to avoid me having binge days. So that I didn't use up too many calories on chocolate I would have something like a finger of fudge or a curly wurly. So I know that I can do it but it is difficult to break bad habits. When I was successful with weight loss, I had to do a lot of planning ahead with meals and ingredients buying. It was like a project that had to take priority every day over everything else. Am I ready for the challenge? Yes! I will be in a meeting for a good part of the morning and when I come out it won't be long until lunchtime when I'll have a tin of soup and a slice of homemade bread (made in the breadmaker). I'll take a yogurt or banana for a mid-afternoon snack and I finish work earlier on a Friday anyway so that should do me. One day at a time...
I agree about the office... I share an office but there are still days/times when I'm on my own and that is dangerous. Of course, not having it around is the easiest way to resist, I am slowly realising this.
Well done on resisting chocolate today, how does it make you feel?
Re supermarket, if you can afford it, do treat yourself to some tasty fruit, veg etc - it makes not having chocolate easier. I lurve strawberries at this time of year and make sure I have lots of them to satisfy my cravings for something sweet.Need_a_break wrote: »Hi tara and everyone else too, lots of familliar faces here .
I have decided to join up and its actually good timing for me as we have a family diet challenge that starts tomorrow, basically 5 of us are putting £25 each in a pot and being weighed at my mums house tomorrow and whoever loses the most weight by october (family wedding) wins the pot. I am really hoping both the thought of losing £25 and wining £125 will inspire me:o.
I have only skimmed over the thread as a little short of time at the mo, but i really hope that this thread will do the same for my chocolate/food addiction as the toiletry thread has done for my toiletry addiction. I am an emotional eater and am gonna try and break the habbit of a life time so am expecting bad days/weeks etc but you have to try so here goes....
Good luck all and now i have another confession to make on the toiletry thread :rotfl:.

xx
Wow Nab, what an incentive!!!!!!! I wish I had that to aim for. Although maybe I should reward myself with £1 in a jar for every day I go without chocolate and have a facial when I reach £30. Could be an idea. I also have some hols coming up, and 2 weddings, so that should be enough incentive on its own!salesaddict wrote: »HI Tara and everyone

Don't tell yourself you're cutting it out, even cutting down is better than nothing!
Right, let's all do this! Tomorrow = no chocolate. I know we can get through it and think of how good we'll feel at the end of the day (and the next morning).Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

I feel re-inspired by the new members :j:T. Have also been really bad this week, it's not just the chocolate though, I have been going for it big time on the crisps, wine, cheese etc etc. Also picking at the kids food, not meal planning and generally back to bad ways. Didn't go to ww because I thought I'd put on weight. BUT... feel positive today - I have a really busy weekend socially but will definitely stay off the chocolate and other rubbish (can't promise to stay off the wine and bbq food tho!). Thanks for the motivation, enjoy the sunshine everyone xx0

Im in - tomorrow, NO CHOCOLATE !!!!!
(only the two flake wins still - but a zillion wrappers to put on,they only let you do two a day,so Im going to try not to eat any more till I have sorted them out!!!)
welcome newbies !! xxxxxDo not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -
I went to the supermarket as planned and was sooooo good and it feels great. Inspired by Tara, I treated myself to some Greek yogurt (the lite variety), meringue nests (50 calories per nest), strawberries and dates. I shall be eating out tonight and have told myself that's enough of a treat for one day. I am feeling a bit peckish now and so I shall probably have a meringue, strawberries and yogurt concoction. Yummy!
I know I'm being good now but it's early days yet and it will be harder once the novelty wears off!0 -
Hello to all the new people! It's got quite busy again!
I had a bit of a low point at the end of last week, beginning of this week. Since wednesday I have been keeping a food diary and I have had no chocolate! One or two things that I should have avoided but much much better than before. Not sure where this new motivation has come from but hopefully now I can stick at it.
Having said that I just ate an eccles cake because I needed to take neurophen for a headache and you can't take them on an empty stomach. Excuses excuses:rotfl: They don't even have the calorie content on them!
Hope everyone is having a good day!"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living." Terry PratchettBought our house 2012Married 2015

Wow, well done everyone, you are all doing so well!!! Vikki, I can't believe you STILL haven't had any chocolate, wish I could bottle your willpower and take a spoonful every day!
trudi, you could save the wrappers and throw the Flakes in the bin (I know, I wouldn't either :rotfl:).
I had no chocolate today BUT have had quite a few biscuits. So not altogether successful. But staying off the chocolate has been a small psychological victory. I also did some gardening at my mum's and am going to do more tomorrow, I really need the exercise!!!
ljaneyr, a food diary sounds good, I might start one - it may shock me into eating less!
