Vixie_Pixie wrote: »oooh i would also LOVE to share with you guys my free (yes free) Pilau rice recipe. I found it tasted JUST like the Indian Takeaway!
Ingredients - Basmati rice, 1 star anise, tumeric, bit of a cinnamon stick, 3 cardamom pods, 2 x bay leaves, chicken stock cube and water.
Spray a pan with fry light and add the spices and the dried rice. Stir until all the rice turns yellow. Make up double stock to the amount of rice and pour into the pan. Stir until the water has been soaked up (the rice will not be cooked at this point) Put the lid on the pan, take off the heat and leave to steam for 20/30 minutes depending on the amount of rice.
After the time, take a fork and fluff up, have a taste to make sure the rice is cookedIf not, add a bit more boiling water, stir and leave to steam for another 5-10 minutes
What is "anise"?? Thank you!:)0
