I don't think you can taste the mushy peas at all, Vixie_Pixie, but then I like mushy peas so not sure if I would notice, IYKWIM.

The one I make also has a tin of this in it (also 0 syns) so you could maybe use that (or just plain chickpeas whizzed up) instead of the mushy peas for a similar effect.

That's a great idea - thanks - I never thought of substituting the mushy peas for chick peas!:D
  • I've been really struggling this weekend... just wanted to eat and eat and eat. I haven't gorged but all my picking has taken me well over my syns allowance :(

I need a kick up the bum and to look at some recipes as I'm getting very bored.

You'll need to squish them up a bit, Aliscrapper, or put them quickly thru the blender, as the mushy peas do the job of thickening the "sauce" - I agree that I can't taste them, but as I neither like nor dislike them I probably just don't notice. They aren't so different from thickening a curry with lentils. Now if someone sneaked some :eek:CARROT  in I would know - I hate carrot with a vengeance, dunno why.

Oh, who up there asked about cod recipes. I had haddock last week and one of the things I did was rub a fillet with a ready mixed spice powder and plain yoghurt (you could use tandoori or whatever you want, or mix your own) and left it to soak in for an hour, then I popped it into the microwave, covered, and zapped it for 2 mins, it was just as good as the tandoori fish at the indian restaurant.
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

That is how i am with peas! If its in savoury rice or something like that i will painstakingly pick out every single pea!

Thats a fab idea for the haddock! I love the fish dishes from our indian restaurant!! Nomnomnom

For those who like to save money as well as loose weight : )
I made a huge fruit salad for pudding tonight, went to the fridge for my last Muller only to find it was well out of date.
I had a 500g for Mr Ts cheap as chips yogurt, 35p, I mixed some sweetner and some vanilla into it, and it was fantastic : )
Guess what I will be buying from now on, just trying to think about what else I can add for different flavours.
Love your Mum, you'll never get another one when she's gone.

Hi Rotherham Lass, not everywhere has it (at least where I am) and the only place I've managed to find it has been Sainsburys, in with the cottage cheeses.

I got mine in sainsburys too, but they also sell it in waitrose ( more expensive tho)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Is that yoghurt from the value range? I buy the value cottage cheese (the only fat free one my local tesco's stock as the selection is tiny) and its really yummy and half the price of the other branded cottage cheeses the same size.
