    I would go stark :)

No, no it's quark to rhyme with stork - if you ask for quark (as in stark) there's no wonder you can't find it :rotfl:(please don't think I'm laughing at you, but it's been a constant question in my group ever since it came up in the magazines).

Re the savoury rice I have to say at my class there is nothing said about having to have it as a supplement to a meal for it to be free. I think if SW are saying things like those are only free as a part of a meal then they need to make this clear both in the literature and in the classes which they don't at present.

Slimming World members are ingenious when it comes to cooking up syn-free foods into some dish which you would never have expected (examples include couscous cake, mock Doritos, etc etc) and it is this that has made the SW nutritionist sit up and take notice.

The whole ethos behind food optimising is to educate people into eating more wholesome foods, cooked from scratch and including lots of fruit and vegetables and to cut out, as far as possible, all the processed foods.

You may find that your Consultant hasn't been for training recently and therefore hasn't heard about the new rules (it is only mandatory to retrain every two years). Ask her to contact head office and find out the latest food news.

I think because it has been allowed for so long, it's not going to harm your weight losses as such, it's just not very healthy to have loads of pasta quiche every day in place of fresher foods, but as I said in my earlier post, if you have it by the slice along with a salad it's fine.

Unfortunately, I have members who's idea of following the plan is to have SW chips, pasta quiche and baked beans 3 times a week and then wonder why their weight loss is slow and they're really not getting that healthy, energetic feeling you get when you use some common sense and keep these things as an occasional treat.

I hope that helps clarify things a little :)

I say quarrrrrk and always will, wether it be right or wrong pmsl

Anyway am I ok to have my couscous frittas? I usually have 1 or 2 every day when hubby has made them as he uses the whole packet to make them. Apart from the couscous all the ingredients are super free i.e onions, chilli, mushrooms etc. Last lot were made with wholemeal couscous as well. We don't usually add cheese which is the original recipe. I do so hope they are ok as I love them.

  • I can honestly say it never even crossed my mind that it would be pronounced quork....as it's spelt quark!!!!!!!

First time I've ever heard it being called that.Still tomarto,tomaito....
    :T:jHalf a stone off,only another 2 to go!:j:T
    :p:D;)Cats are truly evil,like women....;):D:p
    Was 11 st 5,now 10 st 7,would like to be....9 stone
  • Just been very sad and checked the dictionary!

It can be pronounced either way,it is a german word,so we are all doing it right,Yay!

I've used quark for years in cheesecakes so I'm often surprised that it isn't more widely known about??????

here's an idea: just write out the word QUARK on a piece of paper and show it to the shop assistant - perhaps they don't know how to pronounce it either :rotfl:
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

I did the same :rotfl:..so you aren't the only "sad" one...
I will always call it quaaaaark -never heard it pronounced the other way. All I know is that I love it and you get herb, fruit varieties and allsorts here -including stacatteli (choc sprinkles) -haven't tried that one though :p

Well Im reporting in with a 4lb loss :j-so thats 40lb in 11 weeks -still *mumble mumble stone* to go though :p
Im trying something a little different this week -well for me anyway ..Im going to have a week of trying to use my 15syns a day ...I have just got to grips with 5 a day -BUT hubby is away this week -which means more time on my own... now I won't be eating junk because A)we don't have any in and B)I don't actually fancy it anymore :j... but I thought I could use up some tinned fruit I have etc...

So- with that in mind todays Red meal plan is:-
    • 250ml semi skimmed (A)
    • 28g porridge oats (B) + 1 ryvita
    • blackberries finally using last years from the freezer
    • banana
    • strawberries
    • peach
    • melon
    • pineapple
    • 250ml semi skimmed (A)
    • 1tsp camp (0.5)
    • roast lamb + minted gravy(max 6)
    • home made yorkshire pud (5)
    • carrots
    • cauliflower
    • broccoli
    • cabbage
    • 71g peas (B)
    • 100g cherry quark (4)
Now then that should be A+Bs accounted for and 15.5 syns eek.gif -the lamb is a joint in minted gravy (not something I normally buy -but well it was "whoopsed" so I thought we would try ittongue.gif) -the whole thing is 12syns -now it isn't that big -but I doubt I will need half of it -so i will amend my syns later...Does food get any better than yorkshire pud with lamb n mint sauce? I don't think so biggrin.gif.

ooohhh the "buffalo chicken was lovely and I did too much so I had the rest cold for my supper with an iced coffee (which is gorgeous) -I prefered the chicken cold -so will be doing that to have cold on salads.... here is the recipe as promised:-
    Spicy Buffalo chicken:-
    EE + original 2.5syns, green 8syns
    • 2tbs runny honey
    • 3tbs soy sauce
    • 2 cloves garlic -crushed
    • 1tsp paprika
    • 1 red chilli -de-seeded and chopped I left this out
    • 1tsp tabasco or hot pepper sauce + increased this to 1tbs
    • 1tbs white wine vinegar
    • 2tbs tomato ketchup
    1. mix all together -tadaaaa :p
    2. place 16 skinless chicken wings in and marinade and place in a cool place for 30 mins
    3. place on a baking sheet and brush with leftover marinade and bake for approx 25 mins 200c/gas6
I used chicken breast cut into strips and it is lovely -Im going to use the same marinade on pork fillet too :D

Right I will get off...have a great day everyone and pinkies crossed to anyone else weighing in today;)
