    Sorry Betty B
rice is still free on green EE, I did not make myself clear. the quiches are not free if you put batchelors savory packet rice in them, they used to be fee. similarly if you put batchelors pasta made with water into the qucihe then it is now syns where as that used to be free as well.

Unless things have changed very recently, Bachelors savoury rice are free on Green or EE when used as they were intended (as a supplement to a meal).
Ah, I think I had the microwave savoury rice in a pouch which is 1 syn or 1.5 per pouch.

Well, that's a bit of a bonkers rule change. Does it also apply to 'normal' rice? Because I made a chicken jambalaya type-thing tonight and added rice to it..

I think this may also have to be chalked up to common sense... if you are having this quiche as part of a meal with salad or vegetables or something I don't see where the problem is. If you are just scoffing tonnes and tonnes of it... I can see where they are coming from.

Hi all. congratulations to all losers, and thanks to all of you that ask interesting questions, it all helps eh? I've had a week's holiday from SW, so by the time of WI it will have been a two week break. Isn't it hard, I'm anxious already and I have four days to go, just worried I will have put on. I've eaten out three times (and tonight watched my companion eat battered cod, chips and peas in the pub!) but tried to be relatively sensible; and the rest of the time it's been lots and lots of superfree and free stuff. *big sigh* I just hope it's worth it. Oh, I have walked lots and lots, always ending up at a pub but I am allowed a glass of wine in my syns.

I really enjoy quark mixed with stilton spread onto scan brans now. Honestly, I never thought I would say that. One question. Is it quark as in stork, or quark as in stark?

Thanks for the fab suggestions consultant31!!:D

I have made a pasta salad with chicken and lots of salad bits. Did use EVOO though but I'm going to syn it (used less than a tbsp for the whole lot and it is for sharing with 2 other ppl)

Love the sound of the SW sausage rolls. I will have to do some digging to find out where I can get syn free sausages (if i feed OH quorn he thinks i'm trying to poison him :rotfl:)

No worries Yellowbird - it wasn't the quiches that were worrying me I just panicked at the thought that rice might not be free at all! I must have mis-read the original post.:o

Please can someone reccomend shops to buy quark and scan bran? I couldn't find quark in tescos. settled for low fat natural yog, total 0% and some extra light soft cheese which will be synful.
I assume scan bran will be in h & b? What's it like? I've only just got my head round ryvita, not sure if i'm ready for scan bran yet!:o

Quark is in most tescos, it is in a small rectangular tub with just a foil lid on it. It has a blue section on the label and is normally with things like mozarella rather than the soft cheeses. I was in Morrisons earlier today and I asked as I couldnt see it and the assistant showed me a tub which looked a bit like a muller light but white. I would just ask in the supermarket.
Scan bran are interesting. I am growing to like them but you need some water or something whilst eating them. I do recommend a quark based topping to keep it moist.

Thanks Sian. I guess if I'm going to ask for it in the supermarket then i'm going to have to echo blackberry-rum's question. Is it pronounced like stark or stork??

thanks! the real reason I asked is because a friend Who Knows Everything and is Always Right insists it's quork. I say quaaark because it entertains me. Betty I find it in Sainsbury's and can now go straight to it. It's in a round tub in Sainos, and in ours :) is near the end of the cheese aisle on quite a high shelf. it's a Be Good to Yourself thing and the tub is white, sky blue and grass green.

Scan bran is from class, or cheaper from Holland and Barratt. It's in the aisle with the ryvita type stuff, and believe me there's not much in a packet!

(PS I may have had too much sun this morning, or gone lightheaded as a result of yesterday's scan bran doing its job, but I just came over all wobbly when I bent to look in the fridge at the quaaaaark packaging :( )
