    Pickled onion soup:

In group yesterday we discussed a soup that is extremely easy and costs pennies for all you MSE!!! They also said another group used it - had it everyday for a week and all lost 3-5lbs that week! Here it is:

Tin of baked beans (tesco value = 44p)
    2 x tins of chopped tomatoes (tesco value = 35p each = 70p)
Tin of carrots (tesco value = 18p)
Pickled onion (jar of tesco value = 31p (i used 5 as they were small))

Cook all in pan and blitz! Simple! Tastes pretty good too!

I've had it for lunch everyday this week almost! Totally cured my cravings for Heinz cream of tomato soup which I LOVE but at something like 11 syns it's off the menu. When it's a choice between spending syns on soup or chocolate I'm sure you can guess which one I choose :D

Thanks for suggestions for veg with HM KFC - i am not a salad person at all - i think it tastes like grass (Yes... i have tasted grass before :rotfl:)
Grilled toms & mushrooms sound good - i have some courgettes that need to be eaten - roasted with garlic ...mmmmmmmmm yum....

I have been living off the pickled onion soup for dinners this week but have been slowly adding things to it to bulk it out! Monday i added potatoes, tuesday i added kidney beans, Wednesday i added quorn pieces and yesterday polished the rest off with cheese on toast!

Going pretty well. I have now lost half a stone, in three weeks, which is a good start. Plus after the first week, I haven't been hungry.

At the weekend I am invited to a BBQ and wonder whether anyone has any suggestions for what to take and eat? I have thought of vegetable kebabs and prawns so far.

It also made me think that over the summer I'll be going away campng with this group of friends, and the food would tend to be loads of bacon and bread for breakfast, lots of takeaway food and a BBQ in the evenings. I'm not knocking this, i used to love it, but just think it will not be good for my continued weightloss and I don't want to undo the good work. Anyone have any good tips? I think taking salad is doable and shouldn't get me too many funny looks. (I'm also not telling my friends that I am trying to lose weight, I suppose because I'm scared of failing but also the lads I am friends with treat me as one of the lads and I don't want to change that.)

    Well done Pee! :T

Chicken wings are always good for a BBQ. They are a bit fiddly when it comes to removing skin but so worth it!

Me and OH done a BBQ and i had venison (the plain ones not the ones with pork) sausages from tesco - they are divine if you can bring yourself to eat them! They are 1 syn per sausage and v v meaty.

I also made HM burgers from extra lean beef mince, onions and garlic.

I also love (might not be to everyones taste) BBQ'd portabello mushrooms. I sometimes have them with my burger with a nice dairylea slice (nom nom nom)

Also BBQ corn on the cobs are nice too.... ooooh i want a BBQ now!! :)
All hail to the sale!!!!!!

I make a lovely creamy salad that tastes naughty, but is actually very low sins!

The basics are - spring onions, apple few grapes, pickled gerkins (you can also add celery, grated carrots, or anything else that takes your fancy)

Dressing - tub of quark (you can use lf cott cheese if liked), 1 tablespoon low fat mayo (2.5 syns), some crushed garlic.

Method mix quark, mayo and garlic together and leave as long as possible for the quark to take the taste of the mayo and garlic (if using cott cheese it is best to use a blender to take the lumps out) If the cream is too think you can add more mayo (but syn it) or a bit of natural yog.

Chop all the veggies and fruit into small pieces and mix everything together in a big bowl.

This is the basic mix. You can add boiled potatoes for potato salad, or sprinkle grated cheese on top (HE).

Re takeaways - try and stay away from creamy dressings, go for dry food if you can such as tandoori, or if having chinese go for steamed instead of fried.

You can still have bread with your brekkie, but take a 400gm wholemeal loaf (2 slices is one HE)

    Have a GREAT time!

Ok, i am PMT-ing and i am craving every sweet chocolaty thing in sight. Today i feel crap and all i want to do is binge on carbs!

B - W/meal toast (heb) with 2 tsp of Clover Light (2syns) cup of tea using milk (hea)

L - This is where i went disasterously wrong! Its my friend's birthday in work and i ended up having a huge American Muffin.. Checked Syns online and they are a whopping 21.5 syns!!!!      Now not only do i feel premenstrual but i feel sick and huge! I also had a kellogs fibre plus bar (heb) a satsuma and a cherry ML yog. I am sooooo annoyed!

D- is going to be a salad of some description. (I did already plan to have this) I've kept my day neutral so far so it will either be meat and salad or pasta and cheese (hea2) salad.
All hail to the sale!!!!!!

Vixie try not to worry about it, its not really that bad at all. You're only 8.5 syns over your daily allowance so you could easily reduce tomorrows syns if you want to. Or what I would probably do would be to flexisyn the muffin and just forget about it (and i know some will say you can't do it after the fact but if it helps me move on and not get hung up on it then its fine imo).

*is now drooling at the thought of a yummy muffin*:rotfl:

For BBQ would probably go for

    Chicken breasts
Chicken kebabs – use more veg and less chicken
Homemade burgers as Vixie said use a bit of onion and/or garlic or some mixed herbs to the meat to add some extra flavour

Obviously if you are veggie then they would be no good.

I would avoid bread buns and fill the rest of my plate with salad but if you don’t like salad maybe you could make some veg kebabs and have them as a side to some meat.

    I  BBQs!

Pixie - don't worry about it. Did you enjoy the muffin? You aren't alone. On the way home from WI yesterday I had a coffee with my Dad in Tescos. He, my OH and my toddler had a brekkie. Me? Well there was this platter and I swear to you a light opened from the heavens and shone on this platter, beautiful music played and the angels called to me. The biggest, creamiest, yummiest carrot cake sat beckoning me there OMG my favourite cake (apart from Tiramisu) So yes I had the most orgasmic slice of cake you can imagine yesterday. Checked my book - 5.5syns per 28g so I dread to think how many syns were in it as it was HUUUUUGE. But by 'eck did I enjoy it. Got up today and am back in the zone. Going to try and stay below 9 syns every day the rest of the week to compensate ;) If we beat ourselves up every time we slip we will never stay on track.

Don't beat yourself up if you put on this week either - I put on 2lb last week which was my * week but 5.5 came off this week. It's all swings and roundabouts :)

Pee. I have one word for you. Quorn. Take Quorn sozzies, burgers (Quorn burgers are £1 in freezer section of Tesco at the mo), Quorn mince made into chilli, jacket spuds wrapped in tin foil (then smothered in the chilli) stuffed peppers, chicken breasts stuffed with Quark, garlic & herbs... droooooooling now... veggie kebabs, chicken kebabs... OMG I cannot be hungry when I've just had lunch :D
