I've been using natural yogurt for this. I can't get my head around this but if it is so close I might give it a try.
Is it just plain cottage cheese blended?

    Thanks:D

Do you know what I really dont know.

I think cottage cheese is milk soured ( anyone?) and soured cream is cream soured?
No idea really I ljust like that "white, clear" flavour of all of those products like philidelphia etc.

Im sure this doesnt help lol
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • Hello everyone and well done to all the losers! I weighed in last Wednesday and only lost 1lb and was gutted. I did what I always do - ate too much because I was so annoyed that I hadn't lost loads! Anyway I got over it and am back on it again!

    Food today has been:

    Brunch-
small tin of baked beans, 2 poached eggs, 2 slices of dry wholemeal toast (heb +3 syns) orange

    Snack -
half a wrap (4.5 syns) with 1 leerdammer light slice (hea), peppers and onions, pear

    Dinner -
extra lean mince cooked with onions, carrots, celery, oxo and jersey royals. Used a bit of gravy granules (2 syns) mullerlight

Hope you have a great holiday consultant!

I have to say that I don't get the cottage cheese substitute for sour cream - they are totally different textures - is it just that they taste similar or do you blend the cottage cheese? I would rather use the fromage frais as I think that that tastes way better as a sour cream substitute.

Hope you have all had a great weekend!

Jane don't be disappointed with losing 1 pound - a pound a week is a healthy weight loss and if it comes off slower; it is more likely to stay off!:D
  • Hi
I've been lurking around this board for ages, reading your food diaries and your great weigh in losses!
I'm going to start doing the slimming world diet from home tomorrow, with the books from when I joined quite a while ago. I would like to attend meetings but just can't afford the time or the money at the moment!
Not sure whether to stick to red & green days which I know or to give EE a try?!?
It would be great to come on and get some support as I have a long way to go, looking forward to getting to know you all :o

    Hi mrsiwannabefree

I have just started doing exactly the same as you - I have books from 2008/09 and am starting again at home, and trying the EE option at the moment. Terrified I will be the size of a house by the end of the first week though, have eaten so much and seems a bit too good to be true really, although am trying to stick to the less processed versions of stuff as opposed to packets and tins that are free iyswim? In the hope that it will be more tolerated by my body and it wont automatically hold onto everything - well I can hope hey?!

Anyway, just wanted to say good luck from another new starter doing it at home alone :)

    xx

I'm on my 12th week and have lost 11.5lbs - I love the sw eating plan so I don't really mind how slowly it comes off as long as it keeps going down :D
Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass :)

have gone over my syns today due to alcohol - opps

did have a few ''in the bank'' that hadnt been used on previous days but not ideal

however since my hub had his stroke back in january i have been drinking far too much - not getting drunk but using a couple of glasses of wine as my comfort at the end of the day so going from that to just having 1 bottle and a couple of vodkas 7 days is quite good i think
it became a habit - a habit that i knew i needed to break ultimately or it would do me no good !!

    Breakfast :
3 slices lean back bacon grilled and 2 slices wholemeal bread from 400g loaf (HEb)
    1 tbsp Ketchup - 1 syn

    Lunch:
Ainsley Harriot Spice Sensation Couscous - free
    2 Ryvita Dark Rye - 3 syns
Asda Good For You Cottage Cheese with Red Pepper and Sweet Chilli mmmmm - Free
    Banana
    Grapes
    Fat Free yogurt

    Snack:
Homemade tomato and veg soup (all made with free stuff etc) - Free
    Couple chunks of cooked chicken

Not had my tea yet but thinking of having Asda Chickpea Dahl and some rice, which is free in the book I have...

I seem to feel really bloated at the moment, and feel sure Ive put on weight since starting, really worried  Thing is, I know that the only way to see if it works is to keep going, but am worried I am putting on with all this extra food when my body is so used to eating so little, and if I do put on, I will be so gutted as I really feel this is a do-able eating plan for once.

Can someone reassure me cos I really keep wavering as to whether to stop now - in my head all I can see is more and more pounds racking up the more I follow it, but I am enjoying being able to eat without worrying aswell, but suppose I need to get over the "guilt" thing with eating.

Argghhh!!! Any advice/support/a kick up the bum lol ?!

Another one here going it alone with old books. I am coming to the end of my third week. Lost 3lbs week 1, 0.5lbs week 2. I started off on red and have now started experimenting with EE and I think it is suiting me a bit better now I am getting in to the swing of it. Reading all the meal plans on here gives you loads of ideas.

    Keep going!

You might feel as if you are eating more but at least it is "good" food that will only help you become more healthy in the future. Once you start listening to your body and stopping eating when you are full rather than eating because it is "free" the weight will come off. I know exactly how you feel though and it is only sinc I hav been listening to the paul McKenna CD that I have actually started to be able to leave food on my plate. Being brought up to always finish what is on your plate is a hard habit to break!

    Green day for me today-

B-Quorn Sausages, Baked Beans, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, 2 x Slices Wholemeal Bread from a 400g Loaf (HEB1)

    L-Quorn Chilli, FF Cottage Cheese

D-Salad, Tomato, New Potato, Small Piece Quiche (6 syns), Tbsp Coleslaw (2 syns), Small Piece Garlic Bread (2 syns)

S-Skinny Cappucino (HEA1), Options (2 syns), Fibre Plus Bar (HEB2), Pineapple.

=12 syns which is a miracle as I was sure I would go over today. Had a snacky tea with family, but fortunately I only had very small bits of the naughty stuff and lots of salad.
