Vodafone offer 1GB on the Desire now, which should be OK - but 3GB is nicer. Vodafone charge for going over the usage, T-Mobile don't (yet!)
If you can get T-Mobile 3G coverage (which is pretty good in my experience) then without question go with them.
I called Vodafone to check this this afternoon before I ordered mine from them and the woman on the sales team said that they don't currently charge if you go over but send you a text to say you hit your limit.
That said I think 1gb is plenty from having had 2 smartphones and used them heavily for data (each had 1 push email account and 3 other accounts on 30 minute checks), know someone who uses the full 3gb on T-Mobile and his use is extremely heavy (hour of streaming video a day, 2 or 3 push email accounts, very regular twitter updates with a large number of people he follows and also using the app store and navigation over 3g. Most of that I could switch to Wifi for though which doesn't worry me.
I read somewhere that going over on Vodafone they just call up and encourage to put you on a better tariff with more data... not much use on the top end one.
Got a great deal on mine, 18 month contract, 600 mins, unlimited texts, 1gb data, £35 a month but with £90 quidco and 20% discount via vodafone business friends and family discount (if someone works for a place that is supplied by vodafone that offer might be available)
so it works out £23 a month (averaged) overall if quidco is paid, £28 otherwise(free phone of course)

The Desire is £285 handset only on O2 via Upgrades. If you take out a simplicity 12 month tariff on O2 for £15 a month you get £100 cashback via quidco.
So you could potentially get 600 mins Unlimited sms and 500 mb internet for £20 and £185 for the Handset on a 12 Month Contract.0 -

Would I be right in thinking that is best to pick another Booster on the Buymobilephones.net website e.g "Unlimited Text" Booster and then contact T-Mobile once I get the phone to ask about the Internet Booster?
What do you guys think?Yeh you could or phone up buymobilephones.net its free amd order on the phone wid dem with the 2 boosters instead of one you r gettin online
