I have forgotten all about this & planned to have DS sort it whilst home from uni, he's gone back & I still haven't done it.
Just went to order what I thought was the prof option & the price is much lower so think I may have done something wrong.
Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus Please select how you would like your product delivered: -- Please Select -- Download Media * -- Please Select -- joe bloggs* * 1£33.15
Product Cost:£33.15Discount:£0.00Tax (V.A.T. 17.5%):£5.80Transaction Charge:£1.95Total:£40.90
I have funds today, need to order the mail disc copy of the better prof deal as I can't trust myself to doi it myself without messing up.
Did I make a mistake as the price seems much lower. Thanks0 -

The thread is old and the price changes.
Great that it has been discounted further. More money saved :TFreebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A0 -
Sorry to be reviving an old (but incredibly useful) thread, but I'm now looking at the 2010 upgrade options. Am I right in saying that these are the options:
1 Free download from Microsoft
2 £5 download from S4S
3 £8 disc from S4S (anybody know if they add a postage or handling charge to that?)
4 £11 disc from S4S
Am I missing something, or are 2 and 4 pointless, in view of the better options at 1 and 3?
Just for the record, there are no additional charges to the £8 for the disc from S4S.
Puzzled, though - the Microsoft Office upgrade site wouldn't allow the upgrade, even though all the conditions were apparently met. I hope this doesn't mean that the S4S upgrade disc is also going to fail to install:

Discs have arrived & I apologise for what is sure to be a daft question:
We have office 2007 already installed. Do I uninstall 2007 first in the add/remove programme & then install the prof 2010.
Will my documents on the PC made using 2007 be OK if I remove 2007 ahead of installing the 2010, will I be able to access them as normal after 2010 is installed.
I know they are quite possibly daft ? but I need to check.0 -

I'm certainly no expert on this, but for what it's worth all I did was install 2010 on top of 2007. None of the existing Word files were lost in the process.
Not a massive improvement over 2007 (which, unlike some, I was quite happy with) but worth doing nonetheless. I particularly like the new copy and paste options.
All credit to S4S - the £8 disc was ordered on 29 September and arrived on 2 October. No problems at all with it, despite the problem I had trying to get the download from Microsoft because it wouldn't recognise it as eligible for upgrade.0 -
Please can someone advise me if I can still get the free upgrade to MS Office 2010 today even though it's the final day (I purchased MS Office fro Softtware4Students a few months ago and it's only today I have installed it on both mine and daughters computer) I have the
Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2010 Upgrade in my shopping cart for £5, but if I order today will I have problems upgrading due to being so late? or once I purchase MS Office 10 it doesn't matter when I install it on my computer?
Sorry if this is a stupid question!!0 -

Perfectly reasonable question. I'm no expert on this, but as I understand it you'll be fine:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/tech-guarantee/
This makes it clear that you need to purchase upgrade by today, not install it. By inference, if you purchase a disc today, you'd not be able to install until after 31 October, so you'll be fine.
At least, I hope so - mine's not installed yet!0 -
Doc N
By my understanding from the link you gave (http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/tech-guarantee/ ) you are to late to receive the upgrade as the very first paragraph states
"If you purchased, installed, and activated a qualifying Microsoft Office 2007 product between March 5, 2010, and September 30, 2010, you are eligible to download Office 2010 at no additional cost.*"
as you said you have not installed or activated yet the end qualifying date of September 30th has not been met.
Hope I am wrong for your sake.just my understanding of the website info.

I think you may have misunderstood the wording, if you'll forgive me.
It's the qualifying product that needs to have been activated by 30 September - and that's Office 2007.
The upgrade is to Office 2010, and there's no reference to an installation/activation date for that.0 -
Cheers Doc N I misunderstood your post, when you said you had not installed it yet I assumed you meant 2007, now I realise it is the 2010 upgrade you have not installed. I must take more note when reading.:o0
