As previously stated, Adobe have a much stricter attitude towards their eligibility for student.
To keep within their rules, you would need to ''buy the software for your grand-daughter''. You would need proof from her school of her registration there, as the Adobe policy is very complex. They don't just send a key when you buy the student software. They want all the proof first.
But, yes, if you bought this ''for your grand-daughter'' then there is no reason why ''she shouldn't choose to install it on grand-dad's computer''
Please read the FAQ link carefully on Software4students website. http://www.software4students.co.uk/FAQ.aspx#qAAS
I have not purchased this myself, so can only offer purchasing advice here.Freebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A0 -
Thanks for your help.0

I'm still using Office 2003 .... and don't qualify for this offer as I have no sticky children, no access to sticky children and am not a student. Just another hard-working, poor single person who wouldn't dare lie and wouldn't have £400+ to buy the "without children" version.
If they just priced their products affordably we'd all have legal copies!0 -

Could you register for some sort of course and get a copy that way - I did a writing course some years ago online via the university of exter's extension department and got a 3yr student id even though the course was for only a term - not sure if this would be a way round it.0 -

I see Office 2010 is up on Amazon, but I haven't had an email yet to get my upgrade (purchased through The Ultimate Steal). Anyone who got there's from the same place as I had their upgrade to 2010 yet?0

If you purchased Office 2007 through Ultimate Steal, then visit this page for the upgrade path. No need to wait for an email, and you should have received it by now (mine got put in spam folder by Outlook 2007's own spam system -)

If you purchased it from Software4students, please follow their links as the free upgrade is to Office 2007 Professional from lower qualifying products, such as 2007 standard. This is a bonus offer from Software4students and following the Microsoft link will result in only obtaining 2010 standard for 2007 standardFreebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Thank you! We had paid for a physical disk; do you know if they'll automatically send one for the upgrade?
Edit: Answered my own question -- when I went to download, it offers to sell me a backup disk for 11.83! Kinda wish we hadn't bothered with the backup disk for 2007 now, as we only had that a few months and won't be needing again. But we like to have a disk on hand, so guess I'll cough up the cash.0
