Hello Skibster
Bugeyed has answered the question as I did buy it from Software for Students. They send it to you and then you have to register on the Adobe site and then either post or scan and send through their portal proof of being a student. It was an easy enough process as I just asked the school (my son's doing A levels) for a letter stating he was a full time student. Scanned this and sent it through the portal got a reply in about a day with the serial number we needed to load it. Once we had done this I phoned them and asked how we obtain the free upgrade to Photoshop CS5. It was the same procedure ie post or scan and send through the portal a copy of the invoice for CS4. The response arrived in a day and the product arrived in a few days. All installed and working fine. Phew! Took a bit of effort and time but well worth it for the saving. Also had to call Adobe a few times when I was a little confused but they were very helpful.
Hope this helps.0 -

Regards moving Microsoft Office from ONE computer TO ANOTHER
This information is taken direct from Microsoft Support. Please keep this information if you suspect you will ever need to move your product (i.e when you buy a new computer and wish to MOVE the product from your old one to your new one)
The Microsoft support page is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/302806
The relevant paragraph reads thus :
When to activate a Microsoft product
Software that is bought in stores or as part of a new computer that is sold by an OEM must be activated. As mentioned earlier, product activation is easy, and many users only have to activate a product one time during the life of the product. However, some products may have to be activated again if the product is moved to another computer or if significant changes are made to the computer on which the product is installed.
That should clear that one up. The copy of Office you buy from Software4students IS NOT a volume license therefore you ARE able to move this software to a new computer.
If you have used the 2 activations available, when moving one of the activations to a new computer you MUST remove it from the old one first, THEN select telephone activation, follow the instructions and when you speak to the normally very helpful staff ( i have had to do this before with windows ) they will give you an ACTIVATION code which is effectively the special key we have discussed earlier in the thread.Freebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A0 -
Whereabouts on Adobe's site did you do this please ?
Adobe DID offer the free upgrade from CS4 to CS5 between announcement of the release of CS5 until it's release in the shops. They NO LONGER host this offer via the Adobe web-site.
As Software4students buy large quantities, they most likely struck a deal with Adobe to continue to offer this free upgrade.
To access the upgrade you MUST have purchased your qualifying copy of CS4 from them since 12th April and before 11th July this year. Then follow the advice from fairyprincess, who has covered it very well. You can read about it here http://www.software4students.co.uk/Adobe_CS4_Student-software.aspx selecting the product you are interested in will take you to the product page where you will see the FREE UPGRADE guarantee.
There is not much information provided about the upgrade but take a Screen Print in case of problems. Though as fairyprincess has done this, they are clearly honouring the offer. It's a fantastic saving on a very expensive product.
NOTE : CS4 is ONLY available to Higher Education students
CS5 is available to many more

Thanks for this im doing a photography HND in august and was going to wait till then to get the new photoshop CS5, currently managing on elements 8, well i was until it needed a RAW uodate after a new camera purchase and now its gone crazy, i had no idea you could get it this cheap.
Obviously im not at college yet, but my DS is in primary school, so i asume he is still eligible to get it for this price, i just recieved his report card today too which i believe i can send off as proof of eligibility.
How long does the process take from recieving my software and sending off the eligibility documents for adoe to send the product key? im very impatient and it would drive me crazy having it here in my hands but not being able to use it.
Sorry for the dumb questions but i have spent 10 hours striaght today sorting out upgrades etc on the pc and my head is a little frazzled.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!:T0 -
