    Hi SH

Just been catching up - pleased the bloods for you both came back ok. It is a worrying time waiting to find out about whether or not surgery is needed, so that coupled with the meds you're having - it's no wonder you are not sleeping.

It doesn't seem a year since you were serching for furniture for dd's birthday last year (that was you wasn't it?)

I did really well with my weight for about 3 weeks then had to have a tooth root taken out and a palette with false teeth and am finding it difficult to eat so have gone back to bad habits again UUURRRGGGHHH - must do better if I'm to keep to lb a week to get rid of a stonetarget I'd set myself before the end of May.

Good news on the cash coming through.

    Hi SavingH,

Delighted to hear that the bloods came back clear. That must be a huge relief for you.

Also - great news about the money! So you are potentially debt free now! When are you paying off all your debts? To be in that position must be so exciting!

That's the good thing about borrowing/lending between friends and family. You feel obliged to pay them back sooner, but generally the money is still there for emergencies so long as the goodwill is.

I tell my DS when he borrows the odd twenty quid, that so long as he pays it back or 'offers' it back, then if I've got it he can have it. As soon as he takes it for granted, the goodwill stops.
    Enjoy your much needed peace.

Right - have proper broadband again - woohoo. 24mb speed!:T

Hi Gill - yes keeping family goodwill is key. She was really shocked when we paid her back :j- and just said you can have it now or when I'm dead but one day its coming to you! Bless. It's reassuring we could borrow it back if we needed to - we shouldn't need to tho.

Hi Tirl - really hoping I get to book holiday soon - perhaps even book it Friday - but for June. I think my appointment at the hospital Friday is playing on my mind.:( I was getting mind block at work today as I have so much to do and was just feeling so stressed - from work and home stuff!

OH and I have had a really serious talk today - because I don't want us to just keep drifting along - kind of in a permanent stress, survival mode state... I feel like we are sharing a house and childcare and chores rather than a life together. So in the spirit of the title of my diary - I have challenged us both to review how we are living, and the decisions we are making and try to improve so we can move beyond survival to thriving. Really hoping it improves things rather than makes it worse...:o

It was an interesting conversation. Apparently OH feels guilty to spend any money whatsoever - even the allowance we've agreed... :(I've offered again to let him look at the spreadsheets so we can make joint decisions about spending (but in practice he doesn't seem to want to). I sent him one showing - the money we've agreed is his in the hope he feels more involved... Will see how things develop. It turns out that he has also been really worrying in case I lose my job again or quit:eek: - but actually I think despite my paranoia that I am fairly safe where I am... so have tried to reassure him on that.

We've just agreed to spend £140 :eek:on some new internal lines within the house to give better internet in the house to OH, DS and DD. We gave DD a computer last year but we've rarely managed to get the internet working for her so this should resolve it. We moved to BT infinity today but OH says that the internal internet wiring needs improving to get the benefit of it. I am okay because I am wireless but OH and the others use hard lines... Expensive but will make OH happier and hopefully it's a one off investment:o

OH was also worrying about how we would manage financially if I have an op and am off sick up to 12 weeks. So I explained that now our debts are taken care of :money: it would just mean we could save less for a couple of months rather than directly impacting anything else - and that my insurance should help cover me if I am off sick longer than a month

:jOn a positive note - DD's class had an assembly today - and she spoke and presented some of her work and did really well. was very proud of her. :j

OH did do a job today I'd wanted him to do for the last 4 years! :eek:It took him 5 minutes - but now my lovely Tiffany lamp on the bookshelf doesn't have an ugly extension lead hanging down any more... so that was result:T

I am trying to get the house more ship shape and get more organised... I am trying to use it as a positive - my life is out of control healthwise but I can improve my environment... Be interesting to see what happens....

DS has just asked OH to go to a film with him - I am really hoping he agrees to go.... we have a few short years now where DS will even be interested in spending time with us... don't want to waste them...

    Hi SavingH,

Wow - you have lots to think about, sounds like there is lots going on for you.

Your OH sounds a little bit down. Is there anyway the 2 of you could get away for a weekend break and just enjoy just the 2 of you and the money you have gotten? It might help you both to re-focus and get some of the romance back.

Not sure where you are looking for your hols but we just got a holiday for £212 per adult staying in the Algarve in a really nice apartment and booked the flights separately. We booked the apartment through owners direct and there seems to be lots of deals to be had esp for Portugal, due to their recession.
