Thanks for popping in Tirl - hopefully I will feel better soon and pop in on diaries again...

Don't worry, I've been very slack recently. I come and have a look but don't participate...not even in my own diary :o

Hi Tirl and CMD - I'll take a peek after

Physio confirmed damage to ulnar nerve in my arm (funny bone nerve) goes from arm pit to little finger. Said it should get better over time and it is really important to try and use my arm as much as my pain allows as it stimulates the nerves to recover... I could get muscle wasting if I avoid the painful positions to much so need to make sure I reach and maintain full range of movement! A challenge!

Milann - presentation went quite well - they liked the slides and the detailed handouts. Went to lunch with a friend which was nice. Came home at 4pm though so could take stronger painkillers and ended up asleep for most of the last few hours!

They tried to deliver laptop today but I was out - but they hae promised to deliver it after 4pm tomorrow - so looking forward to that at least. OH will collect DS tomorrow too after work.

We are having rotisserie chicken for tea - with some frozen roasties and veg... OH cooking the potatoes and veg now...

I haven't read your diary for awhile, how did you injure the nerve? Sounds very painful, hope you recover fully, just keep at it!

Hi Tirl - believe it or not I had a blood transfusion (for severe anaemia) - with a canula on the inside of my elbow - and it appears they put the canula in too hard and pricked all the way through damaging the ulna nerve which runs from your armpit to your little finger and along your elbow. This was nearly 3 weeks ago now but I am still experiencing a lot of pain which makes my cripplingly high workload at work even harder to deal with! Someone today was saying I should put a formal complaint into the hospital and potentially sue... Not sure about that as a lot of the positive thinking experts reckon you hang on to pain far more when you seek retribution and you heal much more quickly if you "let it go"... Will need to think about that one...

Came home earlier than normal today so I could take possession of my beautiful new red high def laptop! May do some work from home later but am catching up on the internet and relaxing a bit for now. I've got my two laptops side by side at the moment - and the colours on this are just so vibrant in comparison with my old one which literally looks dull and tired in comparison. My old one was about 3 or 4 years old. OH is going to try and fix it so we have a spare one, that DS could perhaps use if he stays elsewhere in the holidays and things. It is good for playing dvds on too - so could perhaps take it away with us and not worry too much if it got nicked.

Just had an early tea too of left over chicken, roast potatoes, peas and gravy - yum which is making me feel better. Was weigh-in day today on my diet and despite not losing any weight for the last 4 days, I lost 5lb last week! Lets hope the weight suddenly comes off this next week too! I have to say my weight loss is encouraging me - it feels like I can at least control one tiny portion of my life!

Got a letter from Virgin today. Their minimum payment at the moment is £25 but due to a change in the law that will increase to at least 1% of the balance from April which will more than double our payments. So grateful tho that it didn't happen earlier in our debt repayment history as it could have caused real problems. Having debts of £10K plus and only paying £25 pcm for the privilege was a God send when I was out of work.

Hmmm,I'd definitely think about what you want to do re: the obvious unprofessionalism of the hospital. I'm not really one for this sueing culture but it obviously affects your day to day life and it didn't need to happen.

Oh no, I didn't know Virgin was going to charge more, I've been quite liking the fact the minimum payment is only £25 and I can pay more if I want to...Glad to know about it beforehand though so thanks for pointing that out.

    Hi Tirl

Yeah I am not rushing into anything with the hospital - I have got myself referred to a different hospital to see a new consultant and if I have to have an operation I would go there instead.

Glad I pre-warned you about virgin at least... MSE did an article a while ago highlighting change in the law - so I saw it coming. Luckily we are in a better place right now and can weather the storm
