  • Hi SH

Ooh shiny new laptop. Expense, but it can be your lifeline sometimes. At least you are getting back on track.

Can't imagine what you are going through, have always been lucky in that respect, although my sister had similar issues for years. Then they tried to put her on HRT to induce menopause 2 weeks before she went on holiday, she nearly killed everyone who spoke to her!

    Look after yourself.

Hi Gill - well I have been very tearful easily the last few weeks but not surprising given pain, hormones swishing around etc - and I started HRT a week or so ago.... Interesting times!

May be going out for a walk with a friend later...

DD will be going to MILs this week which would take some pressure off and trying to persuade DS to go away for a few days to my sister's. Then OH and I could relax a little and perhaps try to get to the bottom of whatever is bothering him at the mo. His cousin died suddenly - and he doesn't seem to have been able to let it go - and seems worried about his own health but in a not doing anything about it kind of way! Frustrating!

Lost another half pound overnight which is great but slightly surprising as I was a bit naughty yesterday LOL calorie-wise

Hope everyone has a good weekend and things improve from here on in!

  • (((Hugs))) Saving H. Sounds like you and your OH could do with a bit of time out together.

Congrats on the laptop! I'm not an advocate for getting into more debt (usually) but I reckon you more than deserve it after the hard time you have had recently. I wish I could give you a proper hug but have the virtual one instead :)

Hi CMD - thanks. We could potentially use my holiday pot towards the laptop in which case it is not causing more debt - just slowing down debt repayment and reducing the amount we can spend on a holiday - so not too worried at this stage.

We are lucky - and I bought it on a day we had both been paid. In principal we have significantly improved our spending habits this year - my cashback card statement came today and it was zero.

After the above payment has gone thro to BOS - we will owe Virgin and my MIL so £9.8K approx...

    hi guys

Had a lovely roast beef dinner today. Now watching Michael McIntyre (a xmas present - there were 2 DVDs - I had only watched one!) - quite funny while also reading a scary book LOL!

I recently gave someone £50 to buy something I'd lost of theirs - they gave me £30 back today as they didn't use it all! Woohoo

My DD is going to MILs today and DS is going to his auntie's so we are going to have some peace.... Woohoo

  • Hiya, I've just sat and read your diary and you're very inspiring, the way you seem to be so upbeat all the time, and live your life whilst still busting that debt! I hope you feel better very soon and well done on the weight loss :)

  • Hi SH

good news on gettting a bit of break during half term. You've got so much going on you need some time to yourselves occasionally. Don't put yourself under too much pressure re: the debt, you are just slowing down the repayment rate a bit, but actually you've set yourself some really big targets.

    HI SH

It took the HRT a while to sort itself out when I started taking it - felt really sick for a short while - had to change brand as 1st one didn't slow things down enough and wasn't much better than before I started taking them. My panic is that doc has threatened to take me off it if I don't shed a few pounds as blood pressure is just below cut off point for being prescribed them. I'm dreading going back to where I was this time last year.

As long as the debt is going in the right direction, I'm an advocate for living and having a treat as you reduce it. That way you'll keep at it. Look on the laptop as a treat to help you keep tabs on the debt and keep on this site!!!!

    Hi Pam, Gill and Milann!

thanks always nice to come back to posts.

Now taking tramadol at night to help manage pain. Worked a nightmarishly long day to try and dent my workload... but guess what it didn't work!! I have to give a presentation to my colleagues tomorrow so was doublely under pressure to try and get everything done!

Pam - thanks for taking the time to read my diary. I think when we first started we owed somewhere between £22 and £24k! So although we are not doing as well as I'd like - we have come a long way. £4K of our current debt wasn't even included in the £20K+ figure as it came later when both our cars died at once! I was starting to get into trouble the last few months with over-spending on my cashback credit card - but I reworked my budget at the start of the year - and while not doing perfectly - that card is now £0 and we didn't go into overdraft so result I think!
