As for the car, if it's as bad a winter as they're hyping, it might be an idea, but I feel your pain. I don't wanna fork out for one, nm 2!"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
Sorry to hear about the car troubles and your cleaner.
Do you plan to get another cleaner?2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
hi BZ and Jellie
DS - is nearly 13 and he wants a go at earning £23 a week so is willing to give it a go - so we are giving him a trial. He's worked out he could with his pocket money and cleaning money get over £1K a year and this is very attractive!! I know some people on here might say should make him earn his keep and do it for free but he already does a lot of other stuff "for free" and I need someone to do the over and above stuff.
As to the car - it turns out I can get a pool car some of the time - so going to see how it goes with that and occasionally lifts for OH etc before committing to any more expense. My car has also been slightly better since its check up so going to see how it goes for a bit too...
Some good news - OH has had a 0% offer from Virgin so that will take care of what was card no 2 on my hit list. I think the 0% on the current deal with BOA expires 10/12/2010 so need to get it moved by then ideally. I would then focus on my RBS card which needs to be paid or moved by March or pay interest. So things are coming along there!
Need to do some online banking at the weekend and pay off my cashback card too.
We got a statement today from the card I just paid off in full so that was lovely to see £0 to pay on that in black and white.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well I've just caught up on my ebanking - took me forever! That and sorting out my spreadsheets
- Have arranged to pay off my cashback credit card - owe just over £1K on that.:o
- Money to pay off card 2 will come from another card on Thursday - charge of £108 for a year on £2700 - not bad... - only has to be paid back at £25!!! pcm too so easy min payment
- It should mean that we can pay what was card 3 off before the 0% expires in March - will need to pay just under £2.7K
- Then want to pay MIL back for car £4K
- Then pay off No 2 above.
Used pool car today for work - a corsa - it was a nicer drive than I expected so booked it for a couple of days next week as well. Still snow and ice here but not enough to stay off work!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Good news about the pool car, especially if your visits are between offices, its quite a 'green' thing for an organisation to do.
From what you've said your DS is very good at housework, so why not let him have a chance. Far safer than a paper round. The cleaning idea sounds like a good solution- you would have been paying a cleaner anyway. Sounds like you are making good progress with the debt- good to see the light at the end of the tunnel. What a year you've had!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0

Hi SH
Sounds like you are well and truly sorted for Christmas. I can honestly say I AM NOT lol. In a way I am because I have saved in a fixed rate account so have the cash this year rather than using cc's. But I don't really know what to get for people this year....
Was thinking hair straightners for someone (don't want to say who - just incaseLOL) - was it on this thread fancy straightners were mentioned - what were the letters in the name??????????
I have a le cruset dish for someone else.
My MIL is getting rid of her house contents as she has moved in with SIL - I usually get her a hamper of food and fancies for herself - but that's not needed now and SIL would look on food stuffs as an insult and that she is capable of feeding herself???????????what's THAT all about LOL - nowt so queer as folk!!
I went to Mr T to get a few toys for my great nieces and nephews and didn't read the small print so went straight to till and didn't EXCHANGE for special coupons which were giving double cash value on toys - so missed out on that..........so I was WELL PEEVED off.
Anyway enough of my ramblings - hope the winter improves greatly - ice is a big no-no as far as I'm concerned - dread to think what it's like on a motorbike.
