It's crazy that we have to be sneaky isn't it. I'm sure he won't even notice you know. Would he prefer you waste the money instead? I think you are doing the right thing, although i think you do need to get him on board rather than being sneaky for too long.
Pigsback - you seem to be doing well with. I ended up winning quite a few of the quizzes when i did it every day. I need to start again. Yet another thing to add to my list.0 -
Thanks guys,
Just think if it had'nt been for you two (and a couple of others) I might have given up.
I'm even more determined now but you are right I do need to get him on board asap.

Hi craftingmad, i read your diary regularly and think you are doing brilliantly. For the first year i made overpayments to the mortgage and OH hadnt a clue, if he thought there was any spare money about he would be away buying the latest gadget. He has definately come round to the idea now and is keen to get rid of the mortgage asap. I understand its probably more difficult for you as you dont work outside the home but do not feel guilty as you are doing it for the greater good of your family
:D.

craftingmad wrote: »Firstly thank you so much for your posty pammy, it really helps to know that someone is on my side and understands that looking after children full time is also a job although the only payment you get are the smiles and cuddles of your kids and the enormous sense of pride when they do something special like walking, talking etc. Thats plenty enough reward for me!
OK I have woken up with fresh vigour despite hubby still being as stuborn as a mule!
I have decided to carry on with my efforts and make sure that all the money I earn from Ebay, Card Sales, Telesales, delivering etc goes into my sole account so I can make OP as soon as I can.
Luckily the child benefit money goes into a different joint account from the main one so I am going to see today if I can change this payment to go into my sole account mentioned above and then set up a further DD for an additional £130 OP from this account (to run at the same time as the current OP from the main joint account).
I am also hoping that as I am saving all this money from the main joint account each month I am going to withdraw £30 each week from the account and put this into my sole account so that this money can also be used for overpayments. I am going to be a bit sneaky and when I go to Tesco's to get milk and bread each week I shall withdraw the amount as cashback so that it shows on the statement as Tesco's rather than a cash withdrawal. He hardly ever checks the statements as this is usually my job so am sure that he will not even notice this amount coming out and it will make a huge £120 extra for me to put towards the mortgage. Call it charging him for childcare as he never helps!!!!!! I'll just tell him that I made the overpayments from Ebay sales etc. What he dos'nt know won't hurt him on this occassion will it?
I think this is an ok way about going about things. My OH gets concerned that by trying to OP lots we won't have the money for fun stuff (which is why the term on our mortgage will stay as it's original, not be reduced officially) - especially as he was made redundant twice last year and spent 3 months on JSA and is now self employed with a short term contract.

That is all fantastic, you have done brilliantly the past month. And I agree any money that you have saved is yours to do with what you want so if you choose to OP on the mortgage then its up to you. He can't argue with you about that. Would he rather you spend it on things that are wasteful or on things that are saving you all money and heading for a better financial future? Like Cha says Men just want to be the one that has the idea to make them feel better
He'll come round eventually.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

I do the comps too, did 161 yesterday, Have you had a look at Loquax? they have the magazine ones in order and puzzler.com You can check by doing search and comps www ending today and then you can look at what are finishing over the next few days. Its easier that way.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987
