Radishes are great too! Especially if you have youngsters as they grow quickly.

To avoid the slug attacks, mash up some eggshells and place in a perimeter around your plants - the little squishies can't get over it, as it's like crawling on broken glass!!

Wow thanks everyone - I feel that my little fingers on each hand have already become green after all your great advice.

And the great news is that I already have some salad leaves, courgette and radish seeds which I found for free on the freebies section so all I need to buy are some peas and tomatos. We also have some carrot, french bean and basil seeds (plus some sweetcorn seeds awaited) so might have a crack at them too.

The kids and I are really excited about our planting day on Saturday so hopefully the weather will be good and we shall end up with a bumber crop! What sort of compost do I need to get?

Me thinks you signed up to the BBC Dig In campaign :)

I just get standard compost and from the Council if i can as its cheaper here. St Johns Innes is a good make as well. My garden is a mash of flowers, fruit and veg :D no set area for any of them

You should have seen me dancing round the garden last night when i realised that my raspberries have baby flower buds! :j

    How did you guess!!!!

Thanks for tips re compost. I'll look into seeing in our Council sell it. If not I've just seen an advert on tv for a local shop which is selling 6 bags of compost (large packs) for £10 so this sound good - I think.

Well done on the raspberries. Good for you. :T

    Hi pammy,

I have done a bit of sales before but it was a long time ago in my younger (and pre-kids) days when I was desperate for cash and so telesales for a window company - I was only for about 4 weeks though as they decided they did'nt want to pay me so I left!

However I managed to phone a few companies yesterday and some more today and so far I already have one definate (which will earn me £17.85 in commission) and lots of possibles which I need to chase in a couple of days time to hopwfully convert to cash for mortgage piggy.

I have to say that using any money earned to OP the mortgage is a real incentive!!!

I was feeling pants yesterday and both kids were throwing paddies for most of the day so I did'nt manage to acheive much towards my MF dreams so I'm not going to do a list for yesterday. I did however get 5 piggypoints from a clickthrough and managed to complete half of my mini challenge so its not all bad news.

However I currently feel like strangling my OH. After all my efforts for this month we had just under £1,500 spare cash sitting in the account before he got paid yesterday. This is mainly due to my no craft spend, reduced shopping bill etc, etc and so I asked if we could pay an additional OP for say £800 to try and gain our (or should that be my?) MFin5 dream. He flatly refused and launced into a torrant of abusive saying that we already OP plenty. It seems he wants to be MF too but just not as quickly as I do and without having to take any more money out of joint account doing it!!!!

He finally agreed to an additional overpayment each month of £80 which will take our monthly OP to £700 from June (as it was too late to change DD for May and our mortgage provider only accepts one off debit card overpayments payments for £200 or more).

Maybe I am being selfish as I know I don't work so don't contribute anything to the account (although I have saved money from this account as mentioned above and never spend so much that the account is O/D) but I know that this month my hubby has a good sized pay packet as he has always been working sop theres lots of OT tincluded and the following month will include the £1000 (less tax and NI) earned from his recent away trip so we will not need this cash for anything else. We already have savings amounting to just over 3 times his average monthly salary so if anything did go wrong and we needed cash it would be available.

What do you all think? How can I make him see that I want this for all of our benefits and the savings we will make in the long run make it all worth it?

    Husband swap anyone?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
