Hi all,
Its been a funny kind of day today. My OH was due to have the whole weekend off which is somewhat of a rareity and our little girl was really looking forward to having her daddy at home so he could see her swimming in her lessons, go out as a family etc). However yesterday the chance came up of going away on business until Tuesday which would mean earning approx £1000 in overtime (before tax etc) so, thinking of the overpayments we could make with the money, I gave him the go ahead to go after our daughters assembly so could first get to say goodbye.
She has hardly stopped crying since and so I am feeling awful for letting him go and in effect putting overpayments over our daughter.
Maybe sometimes it is worth turning down extra cash even though in the long run paying off the mortgage early will benefit them greatly?
However I have managed to do a few little bits today once the kids went to bed (our little man is also missing daddy terribly so I have been trying to entertain them all day to keep their mind of their dissappointment).
Little
1. Applied to Panelbase to hopefully gain a few more surveys to fill in.
2. 5 piggypoint clickthrough.
3. Completed 2 x OnePoll Surveys totalling 25p.

Don't feel guilty about your DH working. It is a fact of life that money makes the world go round. Yes it sucks when you can't spend time with your dad, but will it affect them long term? Probably not. My dad worked 7 days a week when i was small, but he spent what time he could with us and i have fond memories of things we did together.
Small children are good at making you feel guilty. She will forget in a few days and that would have been a lot of money to knock back.
Think of longer term holidays you can afford to take them on, paying for other experiences, having spare money for university or whatever they need. Don't feel bad.0 -

Thanks wildchild,
Your right, it is so hard giving up spending money on something that is your passion (particulary when it really is my one and only vice as I don't smoke, drink coffee or alcohol or go to the gym etc) but like you say it will be worth it in the end - and it will be brilliant for the kids as well.
The mortgage will go down - even if I have to sit on my hands and freeze the credit cards!!!!!Mortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -

We do however have a 10 year savings policy maturing in September so hopefully this should give us about £10k to put towards the mortgage - cross everything everyone pretty please. xxMortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -
wow you are doing absolutely fantastic, well done hun.
Your OH is on a fab wage (and £1k for a couple of days OT,)
Have a look at dooyoo for writing reviews. I am sure there may be crafty things on there to review that you could do with your eyes closed lol
You get 500pts for each review and 15 pyd for every rate someone gives you. Get to 50k and you can redeem for a cheque or 20k and get an amazon voucher. It can be a bit time consuming but I try and do a review a day.
good luck with it all xMPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

Thanks pammyj,
I'll look at dooyoo very soon as it sounds great.
Also thanks for your encouragement and kind words. They're the things which keep me going.
Sadly hubby is'nt on as a good a salary as it sounds - the O/T was only so high as it included an allowance for being away from base, overnight allowance etc and althopugh he does earn an alright salary he has to work lots and lots of hours for it and could also get prosecuted for manslaughter if something he does (or signs for) is found to be wrong. Although that said I do realise that we are lucky for him a job which pays enough for me to be able to be a full time mum.
