I am sooooo pleased that your OH is slowly being converted. He would be a fool not to. i do understand that he doesnt want to put everything into it though, fair comment.

well done on the greenfingers too hun, I just killed a load of sunflowers that were doing so well because they got overheated in my plastic greenhouse and have wilted! I am really gutted :(

    Hi pammyj,

Thanks for your encouraging words and I'm sorry to hear about the sunflowers! ;)

Its great to know that hubby is slowly getting on board and I too can understand his reluctance to throw everything into it - it would just be nice if he agreed to use at least half the left over cash towards the OP's. Last month we had just over £2,500 left at the end of the month!

Sadly the advertising sales are on hold for a moment as the lady who runs the local magazine is uming and urring as to whether to go to print for the next issue as she is struggling with funds I think. I hope that she manages to sort something out soon and that I get paid for all the sales I have made so far - fingers are crossed very tightly. This money will make a big difference to any OP's I can make.

Going to repot my courgettes and draft runer beans today as they are really starting to grow now - I can't wait to eat them when they are ready.

Plus the plan is to make some more cards and do some other little things which all add up to extra OP's.

    Happy MF wannabe'ing everyone.

Yeay - well done on your progress! My OH doesn't mind the idea of paying of the mortgage in principle - but is unwilling to do without anything - making it hard to achieve in practise!! Since being made redundant last year (twice) he cannot face looking at anything money related or even talking about it. It was all pretty much left to me before, anyway, but it definitely is now. I'd like him on board a bit more, really - it would make my life easier!

We have a 100k+(only just) mortgage but a 'relatively' short term of 12(? - I think) years on our loan agreement - making our savings in interest less than if we were paying it back over 25 years - so he can't see too much point in stretching ourselves to the detriment of 'fun' (hmm- we have 3week old Ford Galaxy and an 8month old VW Golf and last year went to France for 2 weeks, spending £5k on that and also spent over £1k on 5 days in Centre Parcs - we're not exactly cutting back are we? ;))

I'm of the 'jam tomorrow' (with an occasional treat) mentality. He's very much for today.... - argh!!

Off to jiggle figures and see if I can scrape £700 for an extra OP for June to get us below £100k (I think).......

Good for you greent - my fingers are crossed that you will find the extra cash to get you below the £100k mark. :DI know that when we got below that amount it was a massive phycological step for me and it really spurred me on to clear off the mortgage early. I'm jealous that your mortgage is only over 12 years - lucky you! :p

If there's one thing I've learnt from my short time on becoming mortgage free is that you still also need to have a life and fun as well so don't feel guilty about treating yourself - we're off on holiday next week to Butlins (not quite Centre Parks but I don't have to cook for a whole week so it will do me and the kids should be happy!!!).

Remember even little cutbacks will make all the difference - I cannot believe how quickly the daily Quidco clicks and survey site cash adds up.

Good luck with your quest. xx

Yes - but I'm already 40 - and you've still got some way to go to get there!!

I have jiggled it about and managed to send £750 today - it'll be a bit tight, I think - but that just means I'll have to ebay more next month!! (And I've applied for 2 sellers packs for the local NCT sale in July - 180 labels - so that means I should shift some stuff and get some money in - double result :D) (I usually sell around 50-60% of what I send in - but need to resist the temptation to buy anything whilst there!!):D

OK everyone - I'm back. Had a tricky coiple of months relationship wise but think after lots of talking and a lovely break as a family we are all back on track (fingers are tightly crossed) and I can focus on my dream of being mortgage free again before I'm 40.

Watch this space for further developments......
