It is amazing to think what we could do when mortgage free, I've often thought we may move to a dream home but I think I will like being MF too much!

It would be amazing to not have a mortgage to pay, I know its a very long way off for us, but at least now I know it WILL happen, we have had so many times over the last few years when we thought we would soon not be able to make the repayments, and basically dh's shares bonus paid the mortgage and his wages went on everything else.
Now we have lost the share dividends but managed to op as well, and clear about 14k off the credit cards in the last 2 years.

I must admit after talking to my dad last night I'm so glad we have turned things round, as most of his windfall will be going on clearing some debts, plus they still have a mortgage after 30 yrs, not of a small amount either. I definatly come from a family of spenders, even my gran has been left 2 houses in the past and still has come to the point that it all gone and has taken most of the equity out of her own place.

The main thing is you are actively doing something about it, you will get there and sooner than others.

My mum is coming round to the idea of being a MFW, she is aware that I OP and was shocked when I told her by how much, she knows what we have coming in and that we're not well off! She is now going to be tackling an increased mortgage alone and we now have almost identical amounts outstanding over the same remaining term. Difference is she is 22 years older than me.

It would be great to convince her to do the same cath if you can would'nt it, sadly its way too late for my family! I want to be able to do stuff in a few years, which you can still do if you have a mortgage if you earn enough I suppose, but its so much nicer spending on things if the money is sat in the bank and you don't owe anything.

Its chucking it down today, I have a washing line full still from yesterday heaving with school uniforms. DS1 is going to be very upset as he bought some goalposts yesterday and is desperate to put them up in my mums garden today, which will probably not happen.

I need to spend most of the day doing work for dh , so I don't have to do it in the week. I have so much to get ready for next weekend, stuff to buy, pack etc. we are only going for a few days but it usually ends up being a weeks worth of preperation. I want to take some food as well, we do have the option of paying an extra £128 for breakfast and dinner, but we've gone for self catering instead. We will miss the fri night dinner as we will be late, and I thought there are cheap restaurants on site, we can eat when we want to then.

Dh was in charge yesterday as I was not well, I think it was a bug, as I'd felt rough all week, still not great today but need to get on and do stuff as I can see the mess mounting up.:(

Hope you're feeling better today, there's so much prep to do before a trip away and then so much to do when you get back too. You will have a wonderful time though.
I am hoping that when we go to Devon for 4 days we don't spend too much on food, it's too easy to eat out isn't it when we should do a food shop once there and take packed lunches on our days out.

I love Devon, have a great time :D

Feeling much better now, had a productive day yesterday as I got up at 5am to try and get ahead with work for DH this week, plus spent about 6 hours ironing , still have some left to do as well.

I am going out today to get all the toilietries etc for the weekend, plus I need to get dh some t shirts to take. Although he sure doesn't deserve it, This morning ds2 came and asked me if we are going to butlins this weekend as he heard daddy tell his friend yesterday we are all going away. I lied and said he must have been talking about their other friends who are going next week, but I'm not sure he believed me. I know its not a major thing but I was really looking forward to surprising them all, it won't be long before they are stroppy teenagers (like their sister!) and won't want to do stuff with us.

Anyway, moan over, I'm off to write a very long to do list.

I know what you mean, I love the fact I can take everything I want on holiday.

I am so excited, I have just got my card reader through the post so can pay the mortgage online! It takes 3 days to clear, but I can pay any silly tiny amounts I like, I shall now be trying to pay something as often as possible, starting with today £1.

Ha ha , I've made 3 op's today with my new toy, £71.16 in total. Mainly due to the fact dh has given me a mr s £50 voucher which has been in the safe at work for months meant for a staff member who has now left , so have op'd an extra £50.

The house garden and log cabin are a mess and I have friends coming for lunch tomorrow, plus no food to give them. Need to get up early and get a head start I think. I shall do a few surveys if possible then head off to bed.
