The intention is there, just life happens.

what would you do if you couldn't get another 0% card or they reduced it at short notice?

Or..I'm sorry to say it but.. what if you don't get the full amount you want to BT? What then... apply for another. It's all unnecessary stress.

You don't need a cc hanging over your head. I'd get rid too. We had massive cc debts..I pay it off in full now every month. If I haven't got the money I don't buy it.

P.s Don't feel like a MFW fraud. I feel like one as I'm not as devoted as other people on here. It's a woman thing , we worry watever!
I can't be bothered updating this anymore

Just had a read through your thread and im going to start following. I am a mortgage free wannabe and should be on the ladder by March 2012...then il have a thread just like this one! We are buying at 160k max and then will be trying to get mortgage free asap...i think we should buy at about 120k and try to clear withen 10 years. So by the time im 32 hopefully.

Have you watched any of the programmes about being mortgage free in 3? Some useful investment stratagies on there...not for everyone though! Keep up the good work!

Id get rid of card debt asap then all out attack on mortgage!
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Thanks everyone, I think I will get rid of the cc this year, it would be the first time in years we have not owed any money except the mortgage. It doesn't really make a difference I suppose who we owe the cc or the mortgage , we still have to pay it back.:D

Good luck to rictus123 on starting the new diary, mortgage free at 32, I wish I could go back in time and join you in that!

I suppose I am a bit of an all or nothing kind of person, it used to be with overspending on the cards, and the last year it has been wanting to pay off the mortgage, which is obviously much better than spending what you don't have, but still a bit obsessive. I'm getting there slowly though you guys have had a big positive influence.

Lots of luck with getting rid of the cc this year newgirly :) We've got to pay the car off first before we start oping again (my penny jar will still go towards the mortgage though so I feel like I'm doing something)

Did you have to mention housework? I close my eyes when I walk in our door :rotfl:you should see my collection of bruises!
Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck :)

A boring day of ironing today, and the pile does not seem to have gone down that much:o
I have a bit of excitement at the moment though as my parents are at an aution today selling an antique of theirs, they have had it for years and have nearly sold it lots of times, but prices have gone up and its been put up for sale with a reserve of 20k! I'm waiting for news right now, sooo exciting I wish I could have gone and watched.

I have applied for a new 0%cc on sunday and still not had any email to even confirm the application yet which is a bit worrying, as the old deal runs out at the beginning of june. I don't want to be paying any interest on it. The descision has been made to clear the cc before oping the mortgage now, and start fresh in jan 2012 with no debts for the first time in about 15 years, which will be great.

DD has 2 friends for tea and the boy's are out, so I've just given them some cash to get sausage and chips from round the corner, a bit naughty but I don't have much in.

A bit of a different suggestion on the card, instead of paying it off how about you build up savings to the same amount in an instant access account. That way you can earn money on the savings for as long as you can keep the money on the 0% cards, but if for whatever reason you couldn't get another deal the money is there ready and waiting to be paid off with no stress.

Just an idea and one I am doing at the moment, I used it to maximise my ISA allowances each year as last year I was unlikely to save £5000 without doing it but this year I expect to save more like £10K so it meant 5K in each ISA.:D
    Mortgage @ 01.06.10 £165,999
    Mortgage @ 31.10.13 £14,664

Thats a good idea babysteps, there is still so much you can learn from everyone else, I had not even though of that.

Just had the call from my mum, and their item has sold for 60k
A very good day for them I think, The closest I've come to that is £80 cashback from dd's phone, that was a good day too :rotfl:
