I should not be on here as is still have'nt finished the packing. I'm hoping that dh won't come home at the very last minute like he normally does when we go away, once he actually turned up just as I had finished loading the car and was about to leave.

Hope everyone has a good bank hol weekend.:D

Well we are back, as for a surprise for the kids we told them at the school gate and ds2 said "I wanted to play on the xbox this weekend!" slightly embarrasing.
Anyway the kids had a great time , although all said they would only got to butlins again if it was the bognor one as they prefered it, I have to say I did too.
We saw daniel johnson from the xfactor, and stavros flately last night which were only on for 20 mins but were really good.
DH was a miserable g*t to be honest which spoilt it for me anyway, I think he was stressed about stuff at work and would rather have been at home. But thats no excuse, I am seriously not happy about it, as we don't do that much with the kids and it cost a lot of money in the end. I don't think I know the total figure but dh spent £120 of his own money and I spent with food and petrol as well about £350 .
I shall stick to planned holidays next time, we usually spend a lot less than that on our main holiday.

Now I have a hundred black sacks of washing to do, and there is no food, I think I shall just buy for tonight though and do a proper menu plan later when I am in the right mood for it.
Hope you all had a good weekend.

  • Hugs. Hope your DH sorts whatever it is out. Not fun when you are holding it all together.

I am currently waiting for a mr t delivery, I have ordered lots of store cupboard stuff, plus a couple of chickens and some sausages on offer. Total spend estimated spend of £135, so now I have £198 left which has to fill up the car (around £70) , to last until the end of june.
I have not really been bulk buying for a while, so we will see if it helps. I still don't think there is going to be much to eat if you know what I mean, but it should stop me keep buying cleaning stuff and toiletries in the corner shop.

I took the boys to the shops today as they still have money left from the weekend, and ended up buying pirates of the carribean on dvd (1-3) for £10 reduced from £40, I never buy things like that for myself but have fancied getting it for a while, only problem is neither of my 10yr old boys want to watch it with me as they've seen it before.:( I think that confirms I shan't take them to see the new one at the cinema :p

Still not a lot of mf stuff getting done, although I have found out my parents friends might be selling their car at the end of the year, a diesel mondeo, 54 reg. I am seriously considering getting rid of our mid sized hatchback, it does seat 5 but was completly chocca with holiday stuff and kids at the weekend, and really a squeeze.
Problem is it's only just over 1 yr old , and we did get a v. good deal trading two other cars + scrappage , but we will still lose quite a lot, plus its low tax/ins/5 yr warranty. My head says keep the car for the full 5 years at least, but my heart says I don't like it that much, and we could have a bigger car plus probably a bit of cash left over.

Hmm, I shall probably think about it then do nothing as usual.:D

:( I have put about 3lb on this weekend, very bad.

I've tried to get lots of healthier stuff in like brown rice/bagels etc. in my food delivery, but its the amount i eat really not just what I'm eating that needs to change.
The mr t delivery was huge today, I seemed to get far more than i thought, will see if it helps to keep costs down this month.

Right , I have been onto the mortgage co. to find out what i have op'd this month as I've not written it down, 8 separate payments totalling £663.66.

I have just adjusted this years mf challenge target as well from £15K to £9k, which allows for the 0%cc repayments I am now going to be paying to clear the cc quicker. I have already paid £5626 off the mortgage so far , so that is another £3374 to find , plus I need to pay £4537.02 off the cc as well.

So a total of £7911, which will be paid from july to sept, as junes money got op'd in may, so thats £1318 per month to find.

  • have you thought about releasing some capital in your house, and doing a cheap buy to let. I am in the process of doing this, I have put down 10k, and borrowing 40k. Flat will rent out for £500pm. Interest only mortgage works out at £210pm (including interest on the 10k deposit) so I will be pocketing 250pm after tax. My plan is to put this straight off my debts after saving a 2k contingencie fund. Then like you when my kids are 18 in 14 years I can either sell up, and clear my mortgage or clear the rental property's mortgage and have an additioal income. Nothing like getting other people to pay off your mortgage. and with it only being a cheap flat if its empty for a few months I only have 210pm to find. You can claim the interest back from the tax man, an 10% of the rental value for depreciation of white goods. :0)
