So behind with everyone’s diaries, really need to find time to catch up
Work is crazily busy, dh and ds2 worked 6am to midnight yesterday (paid for 7.5hrs) they are taking over another factory and it’s very busy.
Dd is doing her new course and for want of a better phrase is being bulliedit’s by multiple fellow students who have said she is different as she is working class, poor and doesn’t dress like them  she is 22 and they are older! She’s upset but doesn’t show it while there. Unbelievable, I am so cross people can be so vile for no reason, I think it could be as she has already won some of the best placements and is quite capable and confident. Ive told her it’s excellent practice for working with t@ssers in the future :rotfl:
She’s actually been left out of group chats and not invited to nights out as “she wouldn’t be able to afford it” I guess true when they are swanning around in limos but how rude .....
On a lighter note spending has been fairly stable lately, still only tiny ops being made due to the building work, but next year will be back on track
Slightly late but it’s end of year challenge time, I’m too tired to decide what it will be tonight so will post a fabulous plan in the morningMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
How awful for your dd. From what I've seen on here she is a very capable and mature young lady and I hope she doesn't let the bullies affect her.
Looking forward to your end of year plan/mini challenges.
Are you still alcohol free? We are slipping back into fizzy Friday here.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
That’s terrible for your DD - as Cath says, she sounds like a very capable young woman, so hopefully they won’t get to her and soon they’ll realise that there’s more to life than (parental) wealth.
Looking forward to the end of year plans too.
I’ve not updated much in ages, so you’re not missing much there!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Hi cath and Vix, I hope they don’t upset her too much too, I can’t believe adults act like that
Still alcohol free (11 months yesterday) feeling great on it still and so far no urges to ever drink again
Plans not done yet as I took ds2’s girlfriend shopping for a dress for my dads party tomorrow as she has nothing to wear and no money so it’s an early Xmas present. I also bought Dd a couple of dresses and a suit from Zara, it’s perhaps not come from the best place, but I wanted her to feel a tiny bit better
Will do finances, check today’s spending damage and make a plan tomorrowMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Busy weekend, dads 70th party went well, he had Gino Washington singing live ( think he’s a seventies singer) so plenty of dancing as well as an awful lot of drinking  journey home was terrrible as it was torrential and we were too late for last overground and Liverpool st. Tube was shut, with an Uber coming up at £222  after wandering in the rain for a while it went down to £111 - still a lot! Sunday was I was wiped out with a non alcoholic “hangover” due to going to bed at 4.30 am then getting up early to try for Glastonbury tickets for ds1 with no luck unfortunately
If Paul mc cartney appears this year as rumoured he will be beside himself!
Just had a chat with my long suffering dh about the finances and whether we can afford to finish the downstairs on £2k if we scrimp and he says we can’t. The dining table and chairs are still in storage so I need to decide ASAP if it’s to be done this year - it really needs doing as the floor smells of cat in the far corner  I’m going to have at options for borrowing a few k to get it done I think , all major work except the drive and windows will be done then. It kills me to think of taking a loan or similar, but I want my house straight again and my furniture back and I don’t want to start 2020 with no mortgage ops again while we pay for yet more work.
So finally for the end of year mini challenges, always good to have a few things to work towards I think, if I fail in one I might succeed in another :rotfl:
- Get total of mortgage op’s to £7k by 31st December
- lose 7lb
- spend under £100 pw on food /drink/groceries (for between about four and six or seven people a night, plus one skinny cat)
- get cooking again , meal plan at least five days of the week
- use cineworld pass, too tired and busy lately so hardly been using it
- excercise , ok realistically I’m only going to commit to one walk a week max, I’m on my feet a lot though :rotfl:
I do solemnly swear I shall update on these challenges at least once a weekMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
As a person doing up a house on 0%cc I wish i'd taken a loan or paid less deposit. one extra payment would be so smooth. However this time next year we will be in a great position. I know your pain.. I cannot wait to have a straight and polished house againMortgage restart June 2018 £119950Re mortgage August 19 £110470, … Mortgage November 22 £85600 final 0% CC 3300Home renovations - £65000, mid 2018 - mid 20220

I’ve never known a “straight” house
Good that you will be done by next year though :T
Still no further on, I’m getting nowhere asking our builder neighbour as he is so busy at the moment (and doing it as a favour cheaper) and dh is not around to speak to him as he’s at a different factory. He was supposed to chase him up yesterday but hasn’t.
Monday is dd’s graduation, I’m very proud of her and looking forward to it, but not to the cost of taking ten of us out for a meal in london afterwards  looks like we will go to pizz@ express as it’s the most affordable, but even so it’s going to be £££. I’ve an envelope of cash of about £300 I’ve been saving up for about six months for treats and I guess that’s going to pay for it!
Today is the day I’m planning the finances and deciding what we do building wise, my stress levels are rising! I also need to come up with a comprehensive future mortgage payment plan, our deal is up next July when we will have 2 years left to clear £75 K and a budget of about £1k a month to pay it.
It’s time to stop f@nnying around and sort things out in other wordsMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I’m seriously putting off doing the finances this week :rotfl:
However the building work procrastination has ended! I’ve been taking control - after a fashion, and decided we are moving the furniture back into the living room and sprucing it up in a very minor way. So I’ve spent £16 on emerald green paint for the fireplace and about £40 on primarni green velvet cushions and candles, I’ve already painted and it looks cosy
We will still need the electrician back to finish the wall lights as the wires are still dangling out , but that’s it for this year now, I’m sick of waiting and want to look forward to meals over Xmas, our traditional Halloween spooky takeaway etc., we will deal with it next year. I feel relieved now I’ve decided and the pressure will be less on dh who has too much in his plate right now.
So tomorrow will defiantly be finances rearranging dayMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
 to pizza express costs, can’t you persuade anyone else to go AF?! At least you’ll be helping with their debt!
The decision about the living room sounds wise - you can relax and enjoy the end of if the year now.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

:rotfl::rotfl: oops sorry couldn’t stop laughing there when you said persuade some of my family to be alcohol free! Unfortunately not, but as it’s daytime it shouldn’t be too boozyMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
