    Another terrible update :wall:

I’m so sick of not being able to budget for the building work.

Still no final figure for the kitchen units and appliances as we had extras delivered but also some missing, plus the bedrooms still need new window sills. Apparently we need to pay for radiators, windowsills and skirting board and some painting still upstairs, electrics not finished upstairs but paid for, electrics in living room need doing, plastering in kitchen/ living room , skirtings and windowsills living room, flooring living room /hall.

Remaining budget allocated this year is :

    £500 bedrooms to finish

    £800 electrics living room

£2300 plastering/radiators/skirting/flooring living room, dining room, conservatory and hall

And that’s not paying anything off the mortgage for the rest of this year!

On the positive side, I am actually sticking to the plans I am making and have not booked any last minute holidays or bought unexpected cars :rotfl:

Xmas shopping in full swing now and all being paid from the Xmas savings pot anyway, there will be cash and amaz@n gift cards for a few people, but I do try and buy little unusual sticking fillers I think will go down well.

    September challenge time

Underspend on £500 food and petrol budget by as much as possible :D

Try and get all work finished and paid for

Go to Amsterdam and don’t go over £400 budget (whilst taking the kids )

Next month I shall do an end of year challenge for the final three months like I used to, always good to try and rein in my spending in the winter months as I can easily get carried away!

Off to see “it” this morning with ds1 , all the others went to the late night double bill last night, I wouldn’t have stayed awake though :o

“It” was fantastic yesterday :T smuggled in drinks for ds1 and I, used my pass and paid just £7.90 for him as they thought he was a student (must be his long hair :rotfl:).

Also had a lovely catch up with best friend last night who has just got back from Florida and Mexico , she bought me a chocolate frog from Harry Potter world and carted it through Mexico for a week after from fridge to fridge :rotfl:

I’m unusually feeling highly motivated to not spend at the moment, dh is at work today so I’m staying in to clean and iron and will take a look at the finances too. We still have an end date of april2022 on a mortgage we can’t clear in time :o we are tied in until July on a 2.19 % deal with a 1% repayment penalty I believe, should I be looking at switching early? Ive not checked mortgage rates for ages!

Well early repayment charge is 1.5% not 1% as I thought, really not worth switching, however it may be a plan next July as there will be 2 years left with no chance of us clearing it in time.

After a lot of working so out I think it might be an idea to take a new 5 year mortgage next August :( we can still op and the payment should be equal to what will be left after all expenses being covered.

I’ve also decided to reduce the building work budget and pay for everything that I’ve committed to next year (cruise/Rome) plus dds travel expenses and the rest of the building cost this year so I can start with a clean slate next year.

Holiday budget will come from rent money from the kids as and when it is paid! Everything else will go to the mortgage and if any of them decide to get married or move out I will sell a kidney or get a loan :rotfl:

We will still have a small float for the kitchen to be finished and perhaps I’ll start a saving pot for the living room.

    Bring on the frugalness :D

Nice Sunday lunch at a posh pub for little brothers birthday and parents anniversary yesterday, dad paid :T most of our kids were not around so I think that’s why we got the invite, as it was a bit pricey!

Just ordered euros for Amsterdam, not the best time I guess but hey ho, ordered an extra €100 as that tipped me into cashback of £2.52, we can use it in Rome next March, although it would probably be a better move brexit wise to just buy the extra then :o

Ordered a few Xmas presents on amazon last night and used a £5 off code, so have just overpaid that.

Weight loss going well, just using mfp and am now the lowest weight I’ve been since dhs 40th and he’s just turned 47  I’m 32lb lighter than at my heaviest and have another 6 to 11 pounds to go , depending on how I feel and look :D next stop exercise

I don’t know Vix, it’s often fleeting :rotfl:

A little spending done yesterday, coffee for Dd and I in the morning , meeting all the ladies of the family in c@sta , then two pots of tea in the pub (a quiet pub of course!) with a couple of friends last night , total spends about £11.

Took back a T-shirt from z@ra I didn’t really need and got a £12.99 refund, will buy something new to wear for winter. Need to book hairdressers soon, can’t hang on any longer! The money is already in en envelope saved up luckily.

  • well done on the weight loss… It's a great feeling isn't it.. I'm such a yoyoer, but currently better than I've been in 5 years :D I'm off to the gym in a bit … my competitive friend has booked the owner for PT ,, something she said she wouldn't do … but at least she's dragging me along ..( i'm competitive enough to want to look good but not interested in body building I'm too busy :D )

I'm hoping to catch your alcohol free vibe too... I've drank twice in 2 months.. (minor miracle) however I don't plan on abstaining on my up coming holiday... just until it and after it. :D

Cheers greent and mfd’s :) I’m convinced being alcohol free is the reason I’ve lost so much weight, not just the alcohol but I enjoy food more now and make more effort to eat what I fancy rather than just eating what’s easy.

Fabulous day today :D Dd and I finally went to see the cursed child  six hours in all, in a cramped seat but well worth it! C@sta lunch and pizz@ express dinner with voucher code, but it was still a fairly £££ experience

Cancelled WW online last week and was told they would take the money then refund it back, however have just had an email saying I’ve cancelled and it runs out in a months time and they have already taken payment, I will have to try and sort it out tomorrow.

We are visiting friends whom we only see rarely on Saturday, and they have asked which restaurant we fancy, a little annoying as I’m trying to cut back both financially and calorie wise, the last few visits have been at our house and I’ve cooked. It seems my frugal month might not be quite so frugal......

Moving on, it haircut and full head of foils day, it’s an eye watering amount but I can’t wait any longer which is a shame as it’s my dads mega birthday party in three weeks so I should wait really!

We have another unexpected invite, best friends dh messaged me to see of we wanted to come out as a surprise to best friend and eat out for their anniversary in a couple of weeks, dh said he will pay though :T

    Hairdressers 9am

Do all washing and hang out anywhere I can find

    Clean house top to bottom

find hand-luggage case and pull together what I’m taking to Amsterdam next Friday

    Check finances

Find out if mum has ideas for her birthday
