Really annoyed as dh has to do the loan application again. It expired after 30 days, we had to send origional bank statements or some send online, three times sent online and once by post and they didn't receive any  still sorted out now but will still be probably another week and a half to sign more paperwork and get the money.

Not sure whether to apply for 0% ccs now for balance transfers or if we should wait until the loan is paid out. It has already been approved....

Oh dear, I seem to have been under the false assumption that you could still transfer loan balances onto 0% ccs - it looks like now they have to be a "money transfer" which is obviously more expensive.

I rang our building g society again to discuss options, nothing has changed there unfortunately and we can't tie to anything other than a 2 or more year deal ( if it's offset to maximise ops then it's a higher rate).

Then I had a quick look on mse to see if there are any mortgages for less than a 2 yr term -there aren't. But nationwide appeared to let you make unlimited op's reducing the term by however much you want (at 1.59% no fees) we scrape by on affordability hopefully, with a two year term it's still a fairly high payment I guess!

I rang and spoke to an advisor who had to check with a higher power and it seems that's allowed :T

So it looks like that may be the cheapest option and does mean not relying on multiple ccs. I do feel rather silly that I didn't check the balance transfer situation beforehand really :o

This will probably lead to a different plan now, Gallygirl will have something to say perhaps :rotfl::rotfl:

Having a great time up in York this weekend (aside from today's worrying news...) the boys seem to like it here, especially after we took them to the stone roses bar before dinner last night.

I have decided to blow the budget, it's a rare thing to get the boys away with us and eating out together now. So far £58 pub lunch for four, £180 curry for six  £60 cash (£30 each) for the boys to wander round second hand record shops and spend, £23 on cheap boots for ds2 as his fell apart and we couldn't find any nice new ones.£10 hotel chocolate chocs to say thanks for having us.

The flat is lovely, everything is new and white or very pale grey, we are doing our best to not make it look like one of the boys bedrooms as they are sleeping on the sofa bed and spreading their stuff everywhere :rotfl: plans for today are - dh and Dad making up the last chest of drawers, the boys will have a wander and look for a restaurant for tonight, I'm going to try and get to the outlet place, I've not been to one on years and if they have posh handbags mum will probably come too :D

Not much mse stuff happening in this corner at the moment!

  • They do have a posh handbag shop or two at the York outlet place. And a very nice cast iron cooking pot shop too.

Back home yesterday from our £££ weekend away  total spending about £600 ish - quite impressive for two fairly lazy days. It did include a Levi jacket for ds2 and a shirt for dh I guess.

The budget should withstand the hammering and still keep the same end date of may 2018, I do need to make some descisions mortgage wise soon though as I can actually apply now if changing to the nationwide.

It won't of course be an offset anymore though, and even though we have resisted spending any in our current offset its been on the cards we really need to spend some money on a kitchen and new flooring downstairs.

I'm not sure weather to hold some back or just get heads down and clear it and then save up after. To be honest I'd prefer to clear the mortgage and then borrow to pay to get it done asap :o I don't think the fridge will wait any longer unfortunately as I'd hoped it would, so I will look on eBay for a replacement now and try and hang on for everything else.
