Too right they don't Alex, I do tell them though

Cancelled meeting mum and aunt today to stay in and go through the finances _pale_ I couldn't avoid it forever.
When I go through one of my "I'm sick of being careful with money" phases, the best to be hoped for is it's over quickly
This last months overspending started with the weekend away in York with the boys - so far so good and money well spent going away for the first time in years with them, many meals out at nice places and a bit of cash for them to spend which resulted in about a £600 ish weekend
Followed swiftly by a new fridge/freezer £299 - again probably valid spending as our old one looked like it may carry a nasty disease.
Followed by a new evening bag, some summer sandals and flip flops, a few cheap t shirts (primarni/next/matalan) a couple of takeaway pizzas for the kids, a few meals out , lunches at the gym and coffees.
Nothing massive but general stuff it's easy to not notice build up. The end result is it will add a month on the term, so an end date of june 2019
If I skip aprils mortgage op there will be enough surplus to put by all other money required to cover the kids birthdays (presents left to get/ cake/ meals out /BBQ) which ive budgeted £1174 for.
It could be worse! Back later after the gym to update

Strange visit to he gym earlier, first a massive queue waiting to park, then saw a car reverse back right by me walking and hit another car. Whilst on the rowing machine next to best friend (only two rowing machines) a very elderly man came over and got a camera out of its case, held I think up to take a photo - at which point I said no and waved my hand /shook my head , to which he said don't worry it's just for my use
Did tell staff who said he's asked for a photo of the squash courts so possibly it was odd but innocent, best friend thinks he's just very old and probably fine, she always thinks the best of people though, I though he was probably a prolific sex pest :rotfl:
No further plans afoot mortgage wise, I did crunch some numbers to see he saving we will make switching to nationwide in July , our current rate I spent 2.24 , new rate will be 2.19 , nationwide rate 1.59 - sounds impressive really until I worked it out as a £90 saving
to be honest I don't think it's worth the hassle! Not very mse I know :money:
Anyway my new financial plan is - no financial plan.
As with diets the more I try to set high and often unattainable targets the more I seem to rebel against my own efforts :rotfl: I know the figure we need to live off to clear in the time frame we want, but as I've been getting quite stressed out over making decisions about when and how much we should spend on the house, I'm going to try and calm down a bit, hopefully the natuarally mse ways will come back to me
Off to bed to relax and watch criminal minds, I did have the option to go to St. Martins in the field tonight to watch some music that's only ever played in the Vatican, I forget the name of it, free ticket too
I'm happier being lazy and watching tv today though so dh has gone instead, I don't envy him this time

I've had a terrible month re. finances and eating out far too much so you're not alone. However, you do disappoint me re. the concert.
2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
Trust me Alex, there are plenty more chances to go out with my dad and listen to classical music, he buys tickets for at least 50% of the proms too :rotfl: tiredness and wet weather didn't make it too attractive!
Are you back on track spending wise now? I wish I could bottle up the enthusiasm that I start the year with, it seems to have run out quite fast this year

The Allegri Missereri (say it out loud, spelling is probably completely wrong)
I believe Mozart went to hear it and transcribed it from memory afterwards (or at least that's what I was told at school)Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

Sounds like you made the correct decision not to go then NG, what a shame. I'm sure it's available on any number of music streaming services, not the same I know, but it's is defined worth a listen.
I once performed part of (I think - it was a long time ago) the misereri when I sang in an 'award winning' youth choir. I do remember it being spine tingling when we sang it in the nave of a church. The rehearsal was more atmospheric than the performance as there were no bodies to soak up the sound and reduce the natural resonance of the building.
(Wish now crawls back into a hole after hi-jacking a financial blog with music....)Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

I will see if I can find it thanks wishing

Hi tryharder, I don't know why some months are so bad but I hope you manage to slow down too!
I will be late for work if I don't leave soon, quite tired after gym and swimming last night, which followed a busy day at work, a weeks shop, some washing and cooking. I'm getting too old for all this rushing around and fancy a nice sit down :rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
