What a gorgeous day today
We drove down to Southend yesterday afternoon, walked along Thorpe bay with the beach huts which was lovely and then up to the front in Southend - a total nightmare, packed everywhere with loads of drunk people! Ita our own fault for going on the first hot weekend of the year I suppose
Today dh is clearing the log cabin and going to the tip, and no doubt there will be a few rows involved in this process :rotfl: I am hoping the kids will help as I know there are big spiders lurking :eek:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Thanks newgirly, they don't make it easy for you to have additional mortgage borrowing so keeping my options open!
I read once, that a marriage tip is to be in different rooms when diy is taking placeJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
No way! People go to Southend out of choice?0

Not much choice if I want to be by the sea without a long drive
Log cabin mostly cleared and no blood spilt, Only minor bickering which is a roaring success in the circumstancesmostly stuff has gone to the tip/recycling, hot tub empty and ready to be filled in the week, dd wants to use it at the weekend.
Diet has been great the first half of the week and terrible the last couple of days , hope the scales are kind!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
:rotfl: Re. Southend and log cabin. Never been to Southend, can't say I really want to after your description but it must be nice not being too far from the sea. Do you mean log store or have you got some kind of chalet affair in you garden?2018 totals:

Not sure I should say Alex, you may not want to frequent my thread any longer :rotfl:
It a large log cabin with a hot tub and - brace yourself- a bar  The bar was dhs wish, even though he hardly drinks and we have only used it for parties. Its not as bad as it sounds, just a space with a couple of ikea tub chairs, hot tub, and a small wooden bar with no drink! Originally we wanted a space for the kids to go when they were teenagers, but to be honest it hardly gets used.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Sorry NG but that's off the Essex scale.
Every time you've mentioned it I presumed it was a small log store and wondered what could possibly be causing you to be frequently making posts about needing to clear it out.
Mind, if your idea of a space for teenagers = bar and a hot tub ... my teenage self would be rather impressed if you were my mother and liberal enough for me to dare bring girls home. :rotfl:2018 totals:

I've got happy childhood memories of days out in SouthendMortgage deal sorted :T
What a ridiculous palaver! On the phone for an hour and a half , even though it was not a mortgage interview (did one recently that's still valid)
Questions included:
What is you planned vehicle of repayment?
Answer: overpaying until cleared in term.
Bs reply: you can't have that
Me: why?
Bs reply: you have to op by just over 20k per year
Me: yes I know and I will be
Bs reply: you have not this year
Me: you have a 10% max op limit , so I am at that limit!
Other beauties included-
Bs: how will you pay the loan back if you don't overpay?
Me: I don't know ?! It will be paid back by op's
Bs: yes but what if you don't, what will you do?
Me: er sell up? Is that the answer you want?
Bs: do you want to sell up then ?
Me: no
Bs: ok , so if you have to sell up, will you be able to buy the house you want with the remaining proceeds?
Me: no
Bs: well I am not sure I can put that then, I will have to put you have no repayment plan , so we will have to keep sending you regular reminders to overpay :rotfl:
This went on and on and on, goodness know any happens if you want to borrow more or move
Anyway end result, 2.26% offset for 2 years.
My friend recently had a transfer to a new interest rate product and transferred from interest only to repayment at the same time. She had to jump though so many hoops she almost lost the will to live! When you bear in mind we are both ex bank employees, it shows how bad it was!Early retired - 18th December 2014

:rotfl::rotfl: The bar during parties was full of different cans of fizzy drinks Alex, and it was full of friends watching movies - not a venue for bringing back boys/girls
However I admit it is very Essex!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
