There is a reason you pay to have the salon take off your acrylic nails  it's clearly not worth the time /money saving to do it yourself, lesson learned :o will be booking in for a fresh set now I have mangled stumps asap :D

Credit card doing strange things, rand bank last night as its supposed to be created on the 1st and he said it will be done overnight. It's showing as due now but there is still no statement just all spending for the last few weeks added together. Will have to call again.

It's nearly mortgage new deal time :T I am very tempted with either the 2.09 - 2 yr fix or the 2.24 offset 2 yr fix , my dad has implied he may be gifting us some money when the sale of something he owns goes through, but I have no idea how much it will be, or exactly when. It would be nice to nice to have no limit to op's ( currently it's 10%) i don't know , we have always just gone for whatever the cheapest deal has been from our building society, only as we can't change of course.

Is there any chance they'll review the term considering the high overpayments you've been making?

You're on IO aren't you, so are getting to the time were 10% OPs are not enough. Are you disciplined enough to save the money as if so there's clearly better rates in an unofficial offset. Regular savers in the first year moved to TSB, nationwide, lloyds for second and OPd at end of 2 year fix.

I have a mix of OPing and regular savers now mine was due to needing a EF but if not used will OP when time is right although I may use one for guttering (very exciting!)

Hi Alex , no they won't take it into account, I applied twice last year and we were turned down as dh owns the company and its usually struggling :o

Hi occ, sorry I didn't make that very clear, current rate is 10% op but the new one is possibly 50% op or offset. You are right about saving being better, it's just I am a high risk for buying a car/ getting a new kitchen/ booking holidays :o not quite grown up enough yet to have savings :D

Weight loss going well, for some strange reason I am sticking to it (or almost!) most days, thank goodness.

Credit card statement done and they have added spending from after 1st may onto the 1st may statement :( petrol spend went on the new month but aldi food £30 didn't. I think instead of starting the £500 budget from 1st , I will do it from when the statement is created so spending £57.42 petrol so far, that way I can only use he card and track it all easily.

    Mortgage deal sorted :T

What a ridiculous palaver! On the phone for an hour and a half , even though it was not a mortgage interview (did one recently that's still valid)

    Questions included:

What is you planned vehicle of repayment?

Answer: overpaying until cleared in term.

Bs reply: you can't have that

    Me: why?

Bs reply: you have to op by just over 20k per year

Me: yes I know and I will be

Bs reply: you have not this year

Me: you have a 10% max op limit , so I am at that limit!

    Other beauties included-

Bs: how will you pay the loan back if you don't overpay?

Me: I don't know ?! It will be paid back by op's

Bs: yes but what if you don't, what will you do?

Me: er sell up? Is that the answer you want?

Bs: do you want to sell up then ?

    Me: no

Bs: ok , so if you have to sell up, will you be able to buy the house you want with the remaining proceeds?

    Me: no

Bs: well I am not sure I can put that then, I will have to put you have no repayment plan , so we will have to keep sending you regular reminders to overpay :rotfl:

This went on and on and on, goodness know any happens if you want to borrow more or move

Anyway end result, 2.26% offset for 2 years.

That sounds like the stuff we get for our BTL - there seems to be little common sense applied, just box ticking :(

They want to know absolutely everything don't they! I am not looking forward to that phone call to request additional funds for extension.

How did you fund loft conversion newgirly? I'm exploring options in case they are mean and won't lend us enough!
