Cool, good plans smlsave
I've had a fab day with my friend - bought myself a summer dress and had Greek salad for lunch, cramming in the cheeky treats before May , very naughty
We have a family curry night at ours tomorrow evening, planned for a while to toast the sale of grans house. Dad has bought a large bottle of champagne with the name of grans road printed on it to surprise my aunt and mum. It's unusual I guess , but my family can be a bit odd :rotfl: I think grans money is paying for the meal, although I will of course offer!
Lazy weekend planned, treating the new paving slabs if my bad back improves, collecting our old table and Chairs back- we gave it to one of the guys at work and he is now moving so doesn't need it anymore, it was my parents originally so has already seen good use, but good quality so worth keeping. Then decorating the garden with various bits of tat I have bought cheaply, solar fairy lights, bunting, solar fence lights etc. Mostly from £1land :money:
Will do an update tomorrow of this months mortgage figures, the good news is we have a new reduced interest figure, it's gone down from £301 to £277 due to it being the annual recalculation time, that's £9.13 a day and if I wasn't so lazy I could read through my ancient diary to see what I was paying when we startedMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I must say I find the champagne awfully distasteful, NG. I really can't imagine "celebrating" the sale of my parents' house which is basically what your father is doing.
Excellent news re. the mortgage, though.2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
Yes I can see why it comes cross like that, it is done with affection though, they didn't need the money, it is more to celebrate gran and the end of an era.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Sorry if my comment seemed rude, I suppose I find it hard to understand as I really can't imagine selling my parents' house. Aware they're getting no younger too.2018 totals:

Don't worry Alex I'm not offended! Although it's sad, now gran has gone it really was horrible being in her home without her there, a sad place instead of a happy one. It's nice to think of a new family starting out their lives there.
How would being in your family home feel when you parents are no longer around? I can only speak for myself but I would find it rather depressingMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

I sort of know where you're coming from. My parents have now retired and I run their business, even though it will someday by mine I'll not see it that way. They don't greatly enjoy being retired, so it's a bit sad in a way.
My parents want their house to be passed through future generations. I've not really got a say in the matter!2018 totals:

Do they always get what they want? I stopped doing what I was told a very long time agoMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

NG, luckily I'll be happy to be the custodian of their house. I hope my son will be when I'm no longer around. Whilst I'll be disappointed if he doesn't want to, I won't force the matter.
As for not doing as you're told, you don't have to see your parents everyday and work for them. :rotfl:2018 totals:

No and I would never want to work for them and see them everyday, it's bad enough having to see dh and the kids everyday sometimes :rotfl::rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Of course you have. It's not a stately home - it's just a house, albeit a largish one.
They are not the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and it's not Chatsworth.
It's just bricks and mortar and it can be sold !Early retired - 18th December 2014
