Thanks GG, she did get a couple of numbers so not a wasted evening.

Here's hoping for a hot summer, I am desperate for a few bbqs now we have a better looking garden :)

It's been a good and bad day today - the good , a lovely afternoon with a friend amd her dd popping in with good luck cards for the boys for their exams which was really sweet.

The bad - not enough cash in the business account to pay dh his monthly dividend, well there was enough but it would have not left anything. All wages have been paid, but it's been an expensive month, there will be enough next week to pay us but it's a massive worry things are this tight at the moment.

I've not done the money shuffle yet today, perhaps a rethink is needed. I will look it all tomorrow but perhaps making payments required to clear in term and saving the rest would be a safer option temporarily.

  • Hi NG I know how you feel have often had that problem with paying myself. Have you considered paying DH dividend weekly I find it a lot easier to manage the business money that way.

Morning occ, not really as its usually a race to get money in to cover the bills and more important the staff wages ( we have a total of 9 full and part time).

We knew it would be touch and go for a fair while yet, we have had new work in from the new company that are renting some space, but it's not quite enough still. The rest of our dididend should be OK to get paid next week so it's not the end of the world, just a bit worrying as its the first time this has happened.

Just had a letter this morning from the bs reminding me we are almost up to our op limit, yea I had temporarily forgotten about that amd will not be making the large op I had intended this month. I am not spending the time and putting in the effort I used to lately watching th accounts and updating /reading diaries - must do better!

Final op made until 1st June £1804 :D this takes us to the limit of what is allowed this last 12 mths- 10% of the balance.

I am reducing my days at work by one per week, we don't have enough work at the moment and we can afford the drop in wages. It will add two months onto the end date of the mortgage, but we are oping more than is required to finish at the end of term so it should be ok.

It does feel like quite a relief really, it's been stressful lately and I am really looking forward to more time at home, as bit of gardening and more cooking :D If we get extra work in I will go in and help as and when needed so dh is happy.

No Zumba tonight as I had had a bad back for a few days, a big glass of red and some painkillers has helped though (bad I know!) so I am off to bed :)

Exactly 6 years left of term now, it only seems like yesterday I joined mse and reduced the term from 33 to 12

After yet another stressful day at work worrying about the cash flow, I have made up my mind to save the money mum gave us for the moment. We will see how everything goes for the next few months.

The minimum needed to clear in term is £1837.33 pm so we will continue to pay that (as if it is a repayment mortgage) and anything over that will be saved into the shiny new pot called "mortgage op money for when we feel confident enough with the business to op it" :rotfl:

Mums money will be put there too :D

So my miserable teens will be overjoyed to know that I shall desist in trying to get them to go on holiday with us somewhere warm. It will be a short uk break at most for the summer. Or possibly even a few tickets for things they want to see or visit in London or nearby.

As its our 20th anniversary I will be trying to sort a few days away with dh later in the year , but it will be a Groupon jobby or even (fingers crossed) an amazing cheap last minute mini cruise :D

So monthly budget all in is £800 (a bit more than usual as I don't want to dip into savings at all)

£800 is a bigger budget than we have had over the years, but we will soon have dd at uni (based at home still) and twins at college so there will be extra expenses to pay for.

The best way to save monthly at the moment is to stop eating out or getting takeaways as much and also to go back to shopping at aldi. I have been getting an online mr t shop lately or stopping there on the way home from work, but that is just lazy and I have more time now.

I did an aldi shop in Sunday at was shocked that their houmous is 45p a tub :wall: why oh why do I talk myself out of going there? It's probably the evil car park to be honest :rotfl:

Anyway, the weather is getting warmer and we will soon have the garden finished, so it seems a good idea to spend more time at weekends doing bbq's and drinking (cheap!) wine out there

    So that's my plan :D

    Help mini out
    Renovate house
    Work less and retire earlier
    Electric car

Mainly to reduce stress related to the above middle 2 items :)

Ps I love buying pre prepared fruit too but can't justify it. Mini is loving pomegranate at the moment and id love to get the pre done one but its so expensive!!!

It's not so bad buying in aldi but m and s

I have to say dhs work electric van attracts so much attention, people are fascinated by it and although it looks like it should go like a milk float it's actually faster than the merc! I would defiantly get a family electric car when the range is a bit further.

Bad back is at very painful levels, have been on deep heat and painkillers for two days now, work did not help yesterday. However I am now off for five days :j I do feel a little cheated as its my first official Monday off and it's a bank holiday!

I think it's time for a May mini challenge :D

I only have one birthday and that's covered, the only big expense will be the buying or hiring of 2x prom suits for the boys (£40 tickets paid for last week) but I will stick the money in an envelope today for that.

    So Mays target is :

Spend £500 maximum on everything- food /petrol/school/treats etc. I have banned Myself from shopping anywhere except aldi too so that will help a lot. In reality I think petrol will be about £100 of that hopefully.

Bills and maths lessons will not be included, nor personal spends (Zumba and nails money!) it should be easily achievable and would free up a very nice £300 to put towards savings or a family break or treat during the summer.

Good idea for the mini May challenge. That extra money will come in really useful :)

When I'm MF I plan to travel, increase my pension and get myself a car. DH plans to get himself an actual new car, just to see what it's like.
