Hi aj hope you are well :) I know you are right but it's not going well weekly either :o Better food wise today though.

Dd came home with a bunch of daffs for me today, my absolute favourite flowers, no reason she said, she just thought I would like them :)

I am trying hard to live in the moment lately, it sounds like such a cliche but I lean towards wishing the months and years away so the mortgage will be paid, we will have more money/less pressure and life will be great.

The reality is that these days that I think are hard, will be ones that I look back on wistfully in the future. Sorry if it sounds a bit deep , I have had two glasses of wine :rotfl: I just want to make the most of every moment taking all the chances I can to enjoy life., whether thats getting out and about or whether it's having a very long Sunday morning lie in. :D

Just over a stone since Xmas now :j. I think it will be some days I am good others not so good eventually hopefully it will gradually come off.

Off to the garden centre today with a lovely friend I have not seen since last year, we usually have lunch at mine but I fancied a change, I shall try not to be tempted by all the lovely candles there :)

The cruise company have emailed me, the one we are booked on is a 5 night maiden voyage, but they are now doing a three night one immediately prior to that so are offering to switch it (as its no longer a maiden voyage) The one we are on is £640 each with all food and a drinks package included. The 3 night one is £349 with no drinks package (£214 f we book onboard) don't know what to do, the longer one is better value but the shorter one will save us nearly £500.

I am leaning towards leaving it as its out 20th anniversary and it would be nice for it to feel like a holiday not a short break. But there is temptation o save money :money:

  • I'd leave it if you can fit it in your budget. Mind you I'm only just starting this journey.. you have been juggling for so long and deserve some luxuries. £500 although a lot, is not that much to catch up over 7 years.

Thanks guys, had a chat with mum (reluctant teen sitter ;)) and she said up to me as did dh, so I am leaving it. If it's as good as I think, we will wish for the extra two days if we switch to the three day one.:D

Treat night tonight, I've booked a Prezzo meal with dh with one of the vouchers I got on offer last year - 3x courses and a glass of wine for two for £20 :T it's an early birthday night out as next week we are out with my best friend and her hubby at the local Turkish restaurant. It's nice to do something just the two of us, although it won't help the weight loss as salads are not included :rotfl:

Been a week of ups and downs, kids have been a worry, ds1 off school ill, Ds2 with temporary chest pain, and dd today found a lump on her leg which has luckily been quickly diagnosed as a cyst or similar.

On the plus side, not a lot spent, lunch bought for me by my friend today, out tonight, a good 90's music excercise class weds and a bit more weight loss.

Another one voting for the longer trip. You have had a lot of stresses lately and deserve a break. 3 days isn't long enough to switch off and relax.
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!

Love prezz0 meal last night - total cost £5 tip :T I gave dh (most) of my dessert and he have me his wine as he was driving , a perfect deal :D still have 2x voucher for 2 more meal deals and a £20 gift card from my brother for xmas, we could take the kids I guess next time.

Dh has taken ds2 to work today, I love when the kids work - I had a job at weekends and holidays in a shop from 13 and they just don't have the same opportunities to get part time work as easily now, it does them good :D

It's a whole month until anymore money can be paid off the mortgage from wages, and that will be a reduced among due to everything we have paid out this year. So I think a mini challenge could be in order:

    Plan of action is:

Scout around all accounts to see if there are odd pennies and £1's anywhere

Feed my change jar into the machine in mr t for cash

Check the Xmas/birthday savings pots - have I taken money out of those for all purchases made so far this year that I am owed?

    List something on eBay

Attempt to pay some of the cruise expenses from my monthly budget (I have the cash put by) and op the cash

Likewise reduce food spending this month, checkout the freezers!

Relieve mum of the £40 for the shoes she has kindly offered to buy me for my birthday

So a target set to come up with an extra op of £150 this March :D

Hi cath , just potted your post , will do thanks ! X

£40 birthday shoe money from my mum, so total extra op money now £89.98 :D

I took ds1 to the local boot sale this morning as he was on the look out for retro games, no luck with that, but I did spot a pair of Levi 508 's in dh exact size and length, looked hardly worn and only cost £6 a as the lady was about to pack up :T

Also been a bit naughty and ordered a couple of tops from everything five pounds (ahead of getting a bit of birthday money :o) including a topshop blue velvet fringed kimono type cardigan, it's a 12 so I am hoping it fits ok!
