I think we had a bigger 6th form one to be honest than in y11. It was just a disco at school in y11. I never had the limo or the big dress. lol. I hope your DD enjoys herself. x

Thanks Michelle, they all looked fantastic. We had a house full as lots of girls and dd's date left from ours. Her dates mum had made a corsage from fabric that she can keep and had used matching fabric, so sweet :D

They all went by coaches , not one limo in sight even though we are in the heart of the only way is Essex country :rotfl: (plenty of fake tan though!)

I have 4 staying tonight and the parents have sent them with some alcohol, which I found a bit odd, I had bought lemonade and popcorn , hopefully they will be tired and just crash out, wish me luck :D

  • Ours is on Friday but we are single sex which means no partners. Yet it works well, once you get used to it!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

The prom went well, although I am biased I thought dd looked stunning :D she had a huge poppy red colour strapless wedding style dress, diamant! sparky shoes and bag and had her hair up in a it bun covered in diamonds, in her heels she is almost 6ft, her date had come in a black tux and shirt and a red tie to match and was tall dark and handsome, an they made a lovely couple even if they are just friends :D

The girls have been making a racket downstairs giggling most of the night so I am pretty tired , I did pop down in the end and tell them to keep it down. Plus the dog has had the runs about 8 times during the night in the kitchen so I was up and down bleaching the floor.
    I'm shattered now.

Dh is severely stressed again at the moment, and his work load keeps getting bigger, if even one member of staff is off he is more or less adding that to his workload. I have been looking for extra part time work again, but the only jobs are at the local late night shopping centre 30 mins aways where every job I find is either evenings and weekends or full time where you need to be available from early morning until late night 7 days a week. Plus according to a friend who has been applying there are hundreds going for each job.:(.

Not sure what the answer is at the moment, dh goes in at all hours and weekends and when he is home is asleep,I think working from home or starting a small business is the best option to fit in with life at the moment, as I can't rely on any help from dh as he has enough to do. I am Still working for home for dh but that's to help rather than for money.

I need a fab idea for a small business that's cheap set up , and either local or from home so I can still be around before and after school. Research starts today....oh, and any ideas welcome :rotfl:

The best idea is to see what you enjoy doing, then see if others will pay for it! I run a bookkeping/tax return business from home while my children are little.

My mil sells antiques and crafty things in eBay.

Argh, why do I have pets ! My cat has brought in the third dead baby greenfinch in two days  yesterday she carried in two together and today another one, which she has left under my bed.

I can't keep her in as I need to leave the back door open as the dog has diahorria and I'd rather the garden than the kitchen. Plus we have a bees nest in the loft , they are flying in the boards the next floor up from the back door, so we have bees in the kitchen too. It's like a flipping made house here at the moment.

On the plus side I have taken home all the teenagers that stayed over last night  just need to wash the floors and clean up, I am Definatly having an early night ( once dh has found the dead bird under the bed when he gets in _pale_).

The bees have been sorted, unfortunately they had to kill some due to the position of the hive :( I feel bad but we can't have any windows or doors open at the back as there as so many, plus and have dd's party and 40 odd kids right underneath it which I think is too risky. We had a hive under the decking last year which we left but this was causing problems. So £55 spent on bee removal.

The constant random stuff I have to keep paying for is getting out of hand. Anyway as of the end of August the emergency fund will be up and running :T its been a long time coming but I got there in the end, I will start with £100 pm.

The next few weeks and months will be buttock clenchingly tight, I've just done a 12 month plan from now and all going well we can pay the cc all off, pay for Disneyland paris, pay for the school bus and save £100 pm for the emergency fund.

So that means no op's and no oping the large loft loan, very depressing.

The immediate challenges will be the kids (3 ) birthdays this month, I fear we may have a party for the twins as well as DD. Not sure yet, I am a bit of a soft touch when it comes to parties and friends over, I find it very easy to say no to everything else but not that, you have to have some fun and it will all be done on a budget.

Off to do some work for dh now as I have wasted hours on the finances again.:D

We'll help you keep to your budget. Keep telling us what you have planned and we'll come up with ideas to make it cheaper.

And starting your emergency fund is fantastic. I was in the same position but eventually you'll have your fund, the CC will be paid off, as will the loan and you'll be able to focus on the mortgage again. Plus you'll have a fantastic new bedroom and great memories with the kids.
