newgirly - would it help to say to your husband to buy himself something nice? I know it would come out of your savings but it might cheer him up? The work hours sound awful. I know if my husband starts complaining that we have no money and I make a suggestion of buying himself something nice (a t-shirt, a game whatever) he soon seems to keep quiet about the savings!!0

Hi amonite, he does seem to always have cash in his wallet and does treat himself , but smaller things really. He buys films quite often (every week!) and has love film etc. The only thing he really wants is a z4 sports car
Its work thats the issue and its not going to get better for a couple of years at leastMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
newgirly we have a Z4. It is nice but my husband spends ages cleaning the alloys because they tend to degrade and cleaning the roof and the summer has been awful again so he's barely had the top down. It is nice to drive but with the cost of fuel and insurance I wouldn't say it's worth it really. Luckily his work cover the running costs but I wouldn't keep it if we had to pay for it ourselves, there just isn't the chance to enjoy it over here. It would be different in southern Germany with no speed limits and decent weather.I'm a qualified accountant but please make sure you get expert advice as any opinion is made in a private capacity.

Thanks happy camel, I don't think its something he will seriously want to do due to the lack of money, however if I said "lets go buy a car this weekend" he would definatly say yes

You can ring nPower up and they will tell you what you've used I think - I am so loathed to switch from them as their customer services are so good, you get through straight away on an 0800 number and always get greeted by a jolly Geordie!
I don't think your electricity is right though do you?!0 -
Hi ammonite, I think its probably my working out last time that was wrong as it was way too low for us, my lot leave a million things on charge constantly and we have xboxes/playstaion often left on, plus dd leaves her tv on throught the night on a regular basis.
Hi Peonie, we are way more likely to add to our mortgage than pay it off in the next ten years. I probably should not have lowered the term quite as much as it might not be possible , it should still be at around 30 odd years left
We are all off to thorpe park (forcast heavy rain ) tomorrow, dd is taking a friend who is paying for her own ticket. I feel bad but can't keep paying for friends to go, I did get it cheap though so only £24 instead of about £46. Petrol paid for and dh is now coming with us, so I will see if he wants to pay for burger king or I will do packed lunches ( he will want burgers:D)MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Have a great time at Thorpe Park!!0

Argh! our house to thorpe park is 57 mins on the sat nav. It took us 3 hours to get there and just over 4 to get home.:( The worst of it is I felt so bad that dd's friend had bought her own ticket and not spent much time there that we bought a bounce back ticket for her so we could all go back at halloween fright night , so I have to do it all again!
Dh has got the dodgy (sorry but he is) builder to do our kitchen ceiling as its rotten and damp, it was supposed to be done in half a day x2 of them, but they have smashed out the whole thing and left it until next week to finish, so we have a very spooky spidery kitchen and a house full of black dust.
Thats it with the moaning for the moment at least.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Things not going well here at the moment, dh is officially suffering from stress which has been getting steadily worse in the last 2 weeks. Work is a nightmare and his late boss's wife is adding to it with constant nasty emails etc. I can't go into too much detail still , suffice to say her late husbands family want nothing to do with her, which kind of speaks volumes really.:(
Anyway, I have no idea what the future holds at the moment, when it is all resolved we might be better off finacially or possibly much worse off, we will have to wait and see.
I'm trying to carry on as usual, the debts are paid off now, we are not very sensible with saving so I will carry on oping the mortage and if it all hits the fan then deal with it then!
On a more positive note, plans for this week are as follows with a smiley face when done!- make laundry gloop
- do some surveys for a change
- meal plan all week
- do lots of hours for dh
- pray the builders put the ceiling back up
- finish xmas shopping for my kids
- attempt ebaying at least 1 thing
