Hi greent, the washing is the bain of my life too! Even the dog was at it today - wee'd next to her bed which got soaked as she did not want to go in the garden as it was raining!

Attempted a dahl again today as it was so tasty last time, however it has been soaked overnight, cooked in the sc on high all day and then boiled on the hob for 40 mins and is STILL raw so I gave up and had greek salad.:D

  • No tips for dahl sorry. Please add my name to the never-ending-washing pile-club! Heating is not going on and I don't have a tumble drier so the pile will just have to get bigger!

October will be another month where not a lot gets paid offf the mortgage but the o/d will be cleared. It feels very good to have the CC cleared finally as well. Its the first time in many years that we have not had any loans or debts we are paying off on the cc, all thanks to mse :money:

I have £100 put away for alton towers halloween trip for petrol/breakfast/dinner which will be almost enough I hope.:D Plus my new bigger budget of £370 a month to live on  so will try and have a fairly frugal month food wise, so we can go to maybe thorpe park/chessington etc. as well in the half term with the annual passes. The kids have an inset day next friday so I might attempt it then.

Since getting the new freezer its been so much easier to manage, yesterday I got about 12 boxes of reduced sausages/kebabs in mr s for 50p a box, plus have been shopping in the cheap frozen place, so many easy to use basic ingredients for a lazy person like me to use and less wasteful.

I think I should have a target for this month so:

    • Go to alton towers for £100
    • stay within budget of £200 for groceries
    • £50 for petrol for the month
    • The rest (£120) to be spent on going to theme parks as much as possible as its halloween soon :D

Have tried to have a nsd today but ended up spending £6 on a macmillan coffee morning and £5 on magazine and sweets for the boys' friend who is in hospital having his appendix out :( and £10 of octobers food budget in ald*. All good causes but even when I try hard I end up spending, as I've already broken the nsd I may as well spend a bit extra and get some wine tonight.:rotfl:

(have gone back to the dark side and am having the odd glass again!)

Dh is kindly bringing home a massive job for me to do over the weekend at home which will take forever to do, and probably means the kids will end up glued to the xbox whilst I work and he does the kitchen ceiling.

    Have a good weekend everyone.:D

  • Oh dear, yours doesn't sound that exciting but I am sure it will be worth it! We too have got the heating on now. No point having a nice house if you can't sit down in it comfortably! We do wrap up though so it only goes on formthe few hours when we are not moving around!

    Have fun

Thanks peonie, but most of it was from the isa :o
SSS, the heating is still off here, I'm not finding it THAT cold yet really, it says 19 in the hallway at the moment, fingers crossed it does'nt get really cold for a while yet.

I am having a tea break from doing lots of work for my dh, he has taken the boys out to trade in some old xbox games (amazing how inventive they are when they have no cash to spend:D) Anyway my lot have done their xmas wish lists, the twins both put down annual merlin passes, so dd saw and did the same, they also had lots of other stuff too of course.

So I've costed out where we have been so far this year vs. the passes, I have gone for the biggest discount purchase ahead prices etc. to get a true picture not the on the door prices:

    Alton towers 2x days £292.50
    Chessingtonx3 £502.50
    Thorpe parkx3 £410.40
    Dungeons x1 £ 46
    Legolandx1 £166.50

    Total ......................£1417.90

Cost of annual passes £438 so a saving so far £979.90

Plus we have a weekend at alton towers booked for halloween and hopefully will do the 2 or 3 other theme parks the same week if I can manage it.

Obviously we would not have gone as much and spent all that but at least we have got our moneys worth, now I need to find a way to renew them for next year!

Hi newgirly dont know if you know, but if you renew your merlin passes online within 8 weeks of their expiry, you get 25% off. Maybe worth considering if you aren't fancying postponing the pass start date. :o
    Mortgage debt : -£17,000
    2019 overpayments : £23,000

Hi OS QS, thanks for that we don't have to re-new until end of march so will have a look.:D

Dh took the boys to game and they got over £100 credit for old games  I dread to think how much they could have got on ebay, they now both own second hand psp's plus lots of second hand games and films for them (ds2 has a ridiculously barbie pink one as thats all they had and he could not wait for a "boy" colour) I am sure he will pay the price for that if his mates see it :rotfl:

Not much else to report this weekend, dh is very very stressed out so its not been much fun at home, I know its work thats the problem, but it does not make it any easier. He was off again at 3.45am this morning, and has not been getting in until 8pm most nights latley, plus brought home work this weekend.

I think the trying not to spend (well me not him!) is annoying him, doing all this work and not having lots of cash to spare. Its all for the long term good though, and we are not really going without anything , we have been away to devon/centerparcs, had a 40th party, a weekend away booked, passes for theme parks. If anything we are spending more on treats like that but much less on everyday living/ takeaways/meals out/clothes etc.

Oh well, I am off to primarni this morning to swap the padded jacket I bought last week as it has a broken popper, I shall mooch around boots and look at the xmas stuff to cheer myself up :)
